Clark - Totems Flare

this album is what got me into Turning Dragon, tried out Totem's Flare for a week and got very bored of it. I think he just means forgettable as in it doesn't pleasure him anymore, not like 'is this an important album in the grand scheme of things'

I totally agree. I completely loved it when it first came out, but as always I'm just going back to listening to Clarence Park and Empty The Bones Of You (With a side salad of Ceramics Is The Bomb)

+1

i was starting to wonder if the man was of the flesh.

everyones lets loose a bit of GAK at some point or another.

(i rather like GAK though, better then rainbow doodoo thats for shit)

Growls Garden

Future Daniel

Luxman Furs

and Talis make this album shine.

as for a full catalogue comparison, Totems Flare is a bit

forgettable, but it is still a completely satisfying listen for me every time.

minus the doodoo.

I think I'm the opposite of those that are saying they loved it at first and then it became forgettable. I liked it at first, but many tracks took some warming up to for me, mostly due to vocals which I wasn't used to with Clark. I guess that's why I haven't tired of it, and also because I haven't played it out (I rarely play anything out these days). I've only spun it like 6-8 times.

Haha, checking out Rainbow Voodoo again to remind myself what it sounds like. I don't mind this song, actually. The vocals are funny in a retarded kind of way, and I like the effects on some parts. Definitely not my least-liked song on the album.

Hmm, but the part with "And I don't even know if it would even be worth it in the long run..." and after are kind of annoying and not as silly/fun. Maybe that's what bugs you guys most also. And that extra instance of "even" always bugs me. There are so many different vocal styles in this song, I like the dark rabbid stuff after that. Overall I think it's a fun/silly song with a few questionable moments.

the Clark signature stylings are still there, i think if there were not vocals

it would be a fine song, but as it is i just curl when the thing comes on.

Rainbow Voodoo is cringeworthy beyond belief! Horrible track which should'nt have even made it onto warp20's deleted scenes. Sorry child.

Look Into The Heart Now is awesome however. That is what i call a track.

Caralaaaaaan......God is in......his holy temple........

rainbow is good fun, you just got to not take the shit so seriously

Yeah, I bet he was trying to clear all the serious IDM snobs outta the room with this track. It does sound pretty offensive though, in a "...really, dude?" sort of way.

The lyrics are insane and that breakdown part is total carnival insanity. The day this leaked I remember the total WTF I had about this song and it still is with me months later. That's a good thing.

I love it when artists don't take themselves too seriously and I'm all for music that's fun. I just find Rainbow Voodoo downright irritating and stupid, the preposterous vocals grind on my nerves even more each time I hear it. I agree with the Doctor, why anyone would think that such a dismal pile of toss deserved to see the light of day is beyond me.

to stop the "he only copies dick james" drivel?

ey, did any of you guys see clark live at berghain last friday? that was genius and fucking brilliant. i've seen him quite a couple of times and almost ever been disappointed by his terrible mixing styles and mistakes, but at berghain he played a perfect show with almost only unreleased stuff. genius. fucking genius. i wanna see him again hrhr...

unreleased material? Think there is a chance of another LP in 2010?

At least an EP, I'm sure.
