Exactly the scene i visualised when i saw the thread title.

Great scene that, Riggs was totally on the edge at that point in the film. In the following scene Murtaugh dragged him into a room and gave him hell for being so wreckless. Riggs responded by putting a loaded gun to his own head. It then dawned on Murtaugh just how close to the edge of sanity Riggs actually was. It was at that point that the buddy boy relationship between them started to develop.

 

Especially poignant considering later in life Gibson has decided to become Riggs
