Official E3 Expo Thread

So it's only a few days away now and hopefully it'll be a bit more exciting than it was last year... *remembers Cammie Dunaway's tale of her skiing accident*

Nintendo's press conference was a train wreck. Sony's press conference wasn't that interesting either. The most interesting thing they brought to the table was God of War 3 which is probably going to be quite epic even though it's made by another team this time around and MAG which I, unfortunately, think is going to be a disaster. Even Microsoft's press conference was boring, and they usually only talk about games and not that much about hardware. Microsoft did confirm the long-rumored deal with Netflix but I quickly forgot about that since these kind of deals never make it across to the other side of the ocean. Then they announced FFXIII was coming out for the 360 which stirred up some shit but I've never cared for the FF-series. I'd say the most interesting thing about Microsoft's E3 press conference 2008 was Fallout 3.

This year should be a bit more interesting. I'm afraid to get my hopes high, but I expect to see or at least something hear something new about Alan Wake, Max Payne 3, Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell: Conviction, GTAIV The Ballad of Gay Tony, Assassin's Creed 2, I Am Alive, hopefully something new from Beyond Good and Evil 2, and of course Heavy Rain which at the moment is the PS3 title I find the most interesting. Indigo Prophecy/Fahrenheit was a fucking brilliant game, so I expect a LOT of things from these guys. As a matter of fact, I think I'm going to play it again soon. Sony has been quite loud mouthed lately and have some interesting IPs coming up whereas Microsoft has been extremely quiet and keeps saying "wait for E3, wait for E3". So this can mean two things: either they've got NOTHING new to announce or else they've got something interesting coming up. The only thing Nintendo will show off which might turn out kind of interesting is Red Steel 2 since it's the first game to actually NEED Motion Plus.

Also, it'll be interesting to see what kind of new hardware the three big developers will announce. There are plenty of rumours about the Zune2 (which according to the rumours is supposed to be a phone as well?), motion control for the 360, and the PSP2 (also known as the PSP Go!). According to the rumours, the UMD drive has been replaced with an internal flash drive. There will be two models: 8GB and 16GB models. There will still be just one analog nub and over 100 PSP games will be available to download from PSN at launch including Gran Turismo Mobile.

We might also get to see OnLine in action?

Thief 4 (Thi4f) and Fallout New Vegas are two games I'm looking forward too as well. We know nothing about these games. They've been announced and that's it. Also, Gametrailers will reveal Bethesda's new game on thursday at 11 pm at their Gametrailers E3 First Look Special. Sounds interesting.

It's most likely another MGS or a spinoff - even though Hideo Kojima said that he wouldn't want to make another MGS.

I am so going to piss my pants laughing if it's an MGS game that isn't an exclusive release for the PS3. I'm not interested in Metal Gear Solid or anything that Hideo Kojima has to offer, I just want to see Kojima-nerds jumping off bridges.

The next MGS will probably not be ps3 exclusive, but I still doubt thats gonna cause any fans to jump off a bridge since the MGS4 engine was built for the ps3, i doubt they would choose to not release it on ps3 if it does go multi platform.

Chances are its gonna be a Big Boss game in Vietnam. I think its kinda weird for Japanese people to make games about Americans killing Vietnamese but whatever. Kojima's humor will hopefully save the day.

I'm really not excited about this E3 at all. If M$ announces Halo 3.5 or 4 or whatever I'm going to vomit.

On a side note... how cool would it be if MGS5 let you play The Boss instead. I want to sneak around as a hot chick in white leather CQC'ing the fuq outta people.

Microsoft might just announce Crackdown 2 since they still own the rights to that title.

The new Hideo Kojima game might also be a DLC...

Nintendo better have something the size of an elephant dick up their sleeve.

heh yeah this is pretty much the only thing im looking forward to. this and some cool unexpected announcements.

This is usually the time of year where I'm mad that I can't watch G4's coverage.
