Anteaters

I went to the zoo this weekend and was checking out some squirrel monkeys doing some pretty cool shit and then back in the bushes i see this fucked up alien looking thing pacing back and forth and then it emerges in full giant anteater glory with the coolest fur and the general look of not taking shit from anything on its face

i love the pattern in their fur these guys got going on, that sort of triangular dark patch coming up from the neck. that is just slick. this anteater was trotting around very confidently. i was taken aback by how friggin huge it was. it was the size of a large dog. i instantly wanted to have one of my own. they friggin eat ants. god they are so friggin cool. i want to know what it's like to snuggle one, if they would allow that or not. i wonder if one could injure me somehow. then it occured to me that anteaters must have babies. holy shit, anteater babies.

apparently you can have them as pets because they are very tame. maybe one day i'll have one. probably not a giant anteater but a smaller species. it takes a lot of work but it might be rewarding for both me and the anteater. you have to make them ant oatmeal or something. how cool would it be to take one out into the woods to forage for ants together. together we would eat all the ants in the forest. i am an anteater.

EDIT: On Saturday I went to the zoo. The monkey area had an anteater. I didn't even see him. :turned:

A friend of mine worked at the berlin zoo for a couple months taking care of the new baby anteater Adolpho. Adolpho apparently had claws like fucking razors, as my friend would need a new uniform each day. He was only about the size of a cat.

I saw some clips of adolpho on youtube. man i cant stop thinking about anteaters.

oh and apparently a zookeeper has been killed by an anteater before, those claws are vicious.

I don't understand how anteaters evolved. It's like hey, let's subsist off of something smaller and less common than grass. Same thing with baleen whales and krill, except baleen seems a lot more efficient than having a straw attached to your face.
