Guest mafted
that video is something else. it's simple, but you can feel their undying love for nature seething through it. i couldn't stop smiling when i saw it (esp the seagulls). tree hugger extraordinaire Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/46238-campfire-headphase-is-incredible/page/3/#findComment-1139829 Share on other sites
Guest Z_B_Z
i just listened to this the other day and i still cant escape the feeling that it sounds like watered down boc. one of the aspects that i always liked about them was the sense of darkness lurking underneath. now, with the addition of strings and guitars (that are not being used in an interesting way) it just feels kinda blah. or meh, if you will. thats not to say it doesnt have some great tracks, but i miss the old boc. Guest haz.
Campfire headphase is my favourite BoC. It's totally psychedelic, love all the warped guitars and live percussion. It's like listening to folk music evolved 20 years, after far too many mushrooms. A melted cassette of old folk tracks, reinterpreted by aliens. Dale
I love relaxing to this record on a Sunday evening Feels kind of weird listening to this in the cold weather though as this album usually gets a lot of play time during Spring/Summer. I tend to find myself playing a lot of Campfire tracks early in the mornings, they usually set me in a positive frame of mind. I don't think anyone anticipated BOC going in this direction with the guitars after Geogaddi. It works really well but I sort of hope that they come back with a completely different direction in the new record. Looking back; their albums do not stay consistent (themes aren't repeated) so let's see what happens.. Guest SecondaryCell
TCH changed my life, I had drifted away from electronic music for many years after being heavily into Aphex, Autechre, Orb, etc. in the 90's. For some reason I never picked up a BOC album back then, and ended up getting into world music and artists like Bill Laswell and Jah Wobble. Then by chance a copy of TCH ended up in my house and I put it on repeat while working at the computer - just listening casually on and off as the hours went by. It slowly sunk in and eventually I had an epiphany - I realized that it was the most interesting and fresh music that I had heard in years. Then I got every BOC release and I love them all in their own right. They re-ignited electronic music for me and I never looked back, branching out into the hundreds of artists (both famous & unknown) and sub-genres of electronic music. It's an absolute gold mine of creativity. I'm one of those that feels BOC is 1/3 of a holy trinity along with RDJ and Autechre. Don't like Farewell Fire and the whole fadeout is too precious by far. doesn't ruin the album but I always skip it. Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide lumpenprol's signature Hide all signatures After this I listened to geogaddi and I didn't like it, I was quite vomitting at some tracks, I realized they were too crazy for my ears, they took too much acid to play music I stupidly thought (cliché of psyché music) But I knew this album was a kind of big forest where I just wasn't able to go inside. - lost cloud I was in US tjis summer, and eat in KFC. FUCK That's the worst thing i've ever eaten. The flesh simply doesn't cleave to the bones. Battery ferming. And then, foie gras is banned from NY state, because it's considered as ill-treat. IT'S NOT. KFC is tourist ill-treat. YOU POISONERS! Two hours after being to KFC, i stopped in a amsih little town barf all that KFC shit out. Nice work! So i hope this woman is not like kfc chicken, otherwise she'll be pulled to pieces. -organized confused project Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/46238-campfire-headphase-is-incredible/page/3/#findComment-1161000 Share on other sites
xyrofen
The songs that I specifically like on this album are Chromakey Dreamcoat, Satellite Anthem Icarus, Oscar See Through Red Eye, and Constants Are Changing. The rest, except for '84 Pontiac Dream, are really forgettable to me. =\ Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/46238-campfire-headphase-is-incredible/page/3/#findComment-1161046 Share on other sites
