i doubt it because its not just the battery but the way the motherboard and components draw power that is a factor ( i think). I bought my 17inch mac book pro in March right when the new batteries came out, so i probably got ripped off

The batteries are supposedly "non-removable", but even though, I think Awep is right - probably more to do with the overall architecture, rather than just being the battery itself.

So does this mean the prices of existing models and refurbs will go down?

Well, here's the thing. I emailed a new Apple store that opens June 11 and asked them about their opening bargains. They wouldn't tell me anything about them, because of course I'd leak them the minute I know about them. But, they told me that I could buy a new MacBook (Intel 2,0 GHz Core 2 Duo, 2GB DDR3 RAM, 160 gb hdd) for around $1200 and then I'd get a Lacie external HDD and a sleeve for free.

I plan on using it for making music, live music jobs, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere, and Adobe Photoshop of course.

Someone tell me what to do.

you can get external hd's for dirt cheap if you look around, don't let that influence your decision.

I think i'm gonna get the 17"mbp with student discount, used for maya/aftereffects/final cut

Man, that's fucked up - I just confirmed, we do indeed get a Touch with any MBP student purchase.

Man, that's fucked up - I just confirmed, we do indeed get a Touch with any MBP student purchase.

i got the student discount - about 400 quid cheaper and with a free ipod nano. the ipod got stolen a couple of weeks ago... im not as vexed as i could be, not because it was 'free', but the company i work for have a 'points' system for reaching targets and ive accumulated enough for an ipod touch. doubt i couldve reached all those targets without a shiny mb pro.

I really want one of these, but I'm going to have to wait for a bit.. then decide if i want a 13 or a 15 inch
