good software for making a mix?

are you making a DJ set where stuff is overlapped and beatmatched?

or just making sure the songs flow without a pause?

you could get a multi-tracker, try REAPER (free)

-create a new track

-import all the songs you want in the mix

-you can slide the tracks next to each other and do some simple crossfades. it'll do that automatically if you just make the tracks overlap.

then render a long wav and burn that

i am NOT doing a live dj set. again, this is for personal amusement. i think adjective is on the right track here. i'm just looking for something to do crossfades, layer tracks a bit, mess around generally. i'm just tired of listening to mixes i make that are just 12 tracks in a row, or something, without any kind of layering. i wouldn't mind learning how to beatmatch and really overlap things as well, so if there's room to grow with the program that would be cool.

just to add to my post...

i can't really think of one but a multitracker with cd burning support would be a plus as well

i remember using a pirated copy of samplitude and you could drop track markers and cd text in the project and then burn a cd from the prog.

probably common in new DAWs?

but i haven't messed with that in a long while, so i don't know the new hotness

(Bob Wilson) Sorry... you created that reality tunnel, you can find your way out... You built the Trap... you know the design better than anyone...sagatsfz3stage.jpg

renoise

renoise can do this? i use renoise... could you explain or point to a tutorial?

i was having a laugh, because this topic has been bought up a number of times before. i couldnt help but not take it seriously.

ableton is piss easy to mix with, you can actually beatmatch without ever hearing the music just by banging the markers where you see the beats.

I would say get to know Traktor and just use 4 decks. It takes a bit of getting used to, and you have to get your timing down, but I generally make mixes when I am very high and it is very enjoyable this way. The problem is that I always seem to manage to put Gza in the mix over tracks that I probably shouldn't be putting Gza over.

I found having to warp the tracks in Ableton kind of tedious work, Ableton sets seem to take more time to prepare as well compared to doing a Traktor set.

It took me about 10 minutes to get used to Traktor even though I'd been playing vinyl for more than 8 years.
