I rescued a dog

I can't wait to rescue kittens from my pregnant cat.  She'll be a terrible mother.  She doesn't even do laundry when we're out.

I think I'm going to start using the word rescue for everything. I'm gonna go rescue the toilet from it's cleanliness. It gives my daily activities an air of valor.
