i can understand that people like/love clark but seriously, there are lots of better music out there.

That would be something else if he was signed to Rephlex.

since 2003, clarks output trumps the one boc album, the zero aphex albums and the countless pieces of crap farted out by squarepusher.

exactly... he is the best electronic musician of this decade I think... worthy of his own forum... he is my king

Hmm. And I'd wager to reckon that the ONE BoC album outsold all of Clark's releases as well.

and im sure the britney spears release that year outsold boc. maybe we need a britney sub-forum then.

While I agree that it probably did, unlike BoC and Clark, Britney isn't (yet) on WARP.

I don't even think it's a matter of there being better music out there; it's just that unlike the artists that have subforums here, Clark's output and musical background is rather limited at this point. Perhaps in 5 years or so or if he becomes prolific in his output (and maintains the quality level), then perhaps. He really hasn't had a genre-stirring release since perhaps Clarence Park or ETBOY, and even those were mere blips on the electronic music radar.

dude body riddle?

ok, point taken, if you want to go by sales. but i'd prefer to go by quality of music. too many people dont buy albums. and even more 'prolific' artists from warp dont even make albums anymore.

and Totems Flare! One of his most unique yet in terms of production. I think he's better than Cylob, Plaid, Luke Vibert, and I'd never thought I'd say this but he's riding up on Squarepusher too. I enjoy his music more than Boards of Canada too! His ambient textures I think are equal too or better than BoCs. Of course his would never exist without BoC, but seriously guys... are you even listening to this shit!?

i'd guess most people don't. it's easier to complain about compression and all eq levels than it is to spend some quality time with the best thing going right now. totems flare is eons past anything released on warp since geogaddi [excluding anything ae]

I really don't get why more people aren't fucking apeshit about Mouse on Mars.

Totems Flare = pop IDM, you might say

Radical Connector = pop IDM (came 5 years earlier, and is better, and I love Totems Flare)

Not to mention that Mouse on Mars released Varcharz, Idiology .... fucking NIUN NIGGUNG.

CHYEAH

come on. i know there is some hating on BoC (*cough* hipster bullshit *cough) going on round these parts but this crosses the line for me.

I don't see how people can backstab all the great times they had listening to Music Has the Rights and Geoghaddi. Two flawless albums. Not to mention that Campfire Headphase is in itself flawless, to me. Beautiful music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The problem is, 'quality of music' is less quantifiable, almost an opinion that is generally unique to the individual - while some people love VSnares' "music", I do not (to understate it greatly). Does that make VSnares a bad artist? No, of course not. It simply boils down to some people liking his music, and others not liking it. I'm sure he's probably Planet Mu's top seller and if he's not, he's certainly in the top 5, if for nothing else due to his prolific output.

The reality is there are really not that many Clark threads unless there is a release, whereas the other featured artists here (Cylob and Plaid, and to some extent Vibert and Squarepusher don't fall in this area) have continual discussion about their music outside of a release period. A Clark subforum would probably do well until Totem's Flare dies down (pun intended), and then unless there was continued discussion on tracks or live shows he might be doing post-Flare, the forum would sit idle until the next release.

your logic is rather tortured...are you saying the MuZiq, Plaid, Vibert, and Cylob forums are bustling with activity? Personally as it costs you nothing to create, why not just do it

Edited by lumpenprol

After this I listened to geogaddi and I didn't like it, I was quite vomitting at some tracks, I realized they were too crazy for my ears, they took too much acid to play music I stupidly thought (cliché of psyché music) But I knew this album was a kind of big forest where I just wasn't able to go inside.

- lost cloud

I was in US tjis summer, and eat in KFC. FUCK That's the worst thing i've ever eaten. The flesh simply doesn't cleave to the bones. Battery ferming. And then, foie gras is banned from NY state, because it's considered as ill-treat. IT'S NOT. KFC is tourist ill-treat. YOU POISONERS! Two hours after being to KFC, i stopped in a amsih little town barf all that KFC shit out. Nice work!

So i hope this woman is not like kfc chicken, otherwise she'll be pulled to pieces.

No, I guess I didn't get my added point across clearly - the µ-Ziq, Vibert, Plaid, Cylob, and to some extent the Squarepusher forums DO NOT get that much activity - very similar (I think) to what a Clark subforum would experience outside of Totem's Flares' release.

And yes, it costs NOTHING to create a sub-forum, but then it opens the floodgates for "so-and-so artist should have a subforum, etc. - pretty soon we'll have calls for "subforum consolidation" due to the overabundance of subforums!

If there was just an easy way to do post tagging, then we could have a 'aggregate view' of all the forums' content in one forum, so that way people who don't want to physically traverse to another subforum to keep up on topics wouldn't have to. Perhaps since the forum architecture is now rewritten, it might be more feasible.
