I've liked the tracks he did that were obvious Aphex rip-offs... they were fun and pretty and instead of falling short of Aphex Twin it just seemed a little bit different.

But then I bought These Open Fields second hand for like $2... I was pretty happy with that... I got it home and I couldn't even get through all of it. I thought it was really bad and really boring... what happened?!?

hey, why don't you vamos into this thread for a long drawn out extreme view of flahbulb

i am going to kick the flashbulbs sorry ass into another dimension

The word The in The Flashbulb is pretty fucking pretentious if you ask me.

At one time, Richard's alias was 'The Aphex Twin' instead of just 'Aphex Twin'

hey guyz, i've got a joke:

how many flahbulbs does it take to change a flahbulb?

  Reveal hidden contents

thats pretty good! i made up a joke today, it isn't flashburlb related, but see what you think...

"doctor, doctor... you've got to help me... i'm dying! i think i've contracted swine flu... cough! cough!" said the hypochondriac.

the sceptical doctor replies "stop hamming it up!"

Ive stated my opinion on him many times,

but basically I think he has a LOT of talent, but it tends to be wasted on sort of sub-par tracks...i think if he took time and concentrated he could churn out an amazing album....he makes like 3 or 4 killer tracks on each album..and the rest is meh...

Great tracks are : Amen Iraq, Visual Chicago Acid, Planet Th, Think Acid, Scissor Gate Acid, and there are others...ill rock out to these once in a good while.

LOL!!!!!!

I found this review I wrote for "Soundtrack to a Vacant Life" sometime last year (on rateyourmusic.com). Must have been baked when I wrote it. I just edited it and added some stuff:

"music for car commercials and movie credits

edit:

i came back here thinking i hadn't reviewed this. this is by far one of the worst albums i've heard in my entire life. this is the nickelback of electronic music, quite literally. avoid at all costs, that is unless you don't really like electronic music and heard about this from a friend of a friend, or something. the review, the one above the word "edit," is spot on. except to elaborate:

music for medicine commercials (allergy medicine, antidepressants, you know, the commercials with the muzak playing in them, shit that pleasantly is forgotten about, possibly completely ignored in the first place / practically non-existent) and for TV movie credits (you know - like on Lifetime, at the end of a touching movie about a girl with no legs and the horse she loves!).

if you just MUST listen to the Flashbulb, go for some of his earlier stuff. it's generic, but this album is the definition of generic."

I think he's done some great, some good and some less good stuff. I don't hate artists just because idm-forums do. I don't care if he's cool or a douche, doesn't matter.
