Aphex Twin commenting on Analogue Bubblebath 4 as someone else:

  Quote
ha the screaming is what makes it!

brilliant in a club ,everyone always screams along to it,

hard big solid beats which puts venetian to shame, slow his tracks down to this tempo and they will sound thin cold and boring this sound big phat and chunky and has a lot of big balls id say.

lovely release

That answers your question.

Yes, richard has djed his shit in the past.

He also mentioned him back in the day right when snares was getting pretty popular, I'm pretty sure I remember an interview.

he said back then that snares is pretty intense but he changed his mind some time later as has been quoted from discogs

I do agree snares became pretty lazy during the last years in terms of development and did not make any kind of progression. all the stuff he releases currently has no progression to tunes he did some years ago - he could have spend more time on learning synthesis better for example but he didn't. he even seems to care less about hit potential / deep emotions then he did back then

his djsets are also pretty predictable and lack of variation in genres. Which is sad as he could do so much more

i remeber aphex dj'ing the track Unborn Baby sometime

i don't think that aphex holds some sort of grudge to snares, eventho i guess that all that breakcore-y stuff isn't his thing

and something tells me you should take richards discog posts with a grain of salt...

I didn't like Snares at first (before Planet-Mu) as I thought it was a little over the top but after getting into it I can't help feel that he's taken that fast breaks intensity that Rich as 'Aphex Twin' pioneered with, for example Come to Daddy & Drukqs and taken it that one stage futher dare I say just out of RDJ reach for demented demonic madness.

It could also be argued that this is why RDJ went back to perfect his analogue style although a million copycat laptop tennagers could also be something to do with this.

Of corse ole Richy still has the edge in synth programming and production finesse as well as having a little more variation and depth to his work but for 'out&out' extreme mental savageness I personally think Mr Snares has pissed on his chips a little and he knows it.

If I wanted to show someone how extreme electronic music can be I'd reach for something by Mr Snares, if I wanted to show a good example how intricate and intelligent modern electronic music can be I'd go for something like Rushup Edge.

Not saying the tall guy is better (far from it) I just think he just has the edge when it comes to the extreme thats all.

Ok, I'll agree with you that Snares overall has a more manic and busy sound than Richard, and he would be a good example if you wanted to show someone how crazy electronic music can get. But you have to agree that most songs on Drukqs, especially Vordhosbn and Mt Saint Michel, beats out most of Snares' recent output by a country mile, and still shows that heavily programmed, micro-editing skill that Aaron tries to maintain. That being said, he does have some incredible songs as well, just not much recently.

But as an artist, yes, Vsnares is the better choice to recommend.

My friend told me he noticed a lot of presets from FM7 being used on Vsnares's latest album.

I wouldn't doubt it. Not that that (god, I hate when that happens) matters, it's just what you do with it. As long as the songs are good to listen to, I really don't mind if they're presets or not. My only problem w/Snares is that he seems too complacent, too stagnant for me. He hasn't changed much about his sound since 2003/04, and that bores me. His music would have to be absolutely perfect for me to hear 5-6 albums of the same thing (which is why I beg for more ICBYD-style songs :emotawesomepm9: ).

Steinbolt could pass as a VS track, VS is more of a SQ copycat than AFX's, although with the Last Step stuff he tried to copy the analord and tuss sound (and failing miserably).

As for the FM7 check Kavinsky, who cares what they use when the tracks sound so good as they sound on his EP's?
