I didn't like Snares at first (before Planet-Mu) as I thought it was a little over the top but after getting into it I can't help feel that he's taken that fast breaks intensity that Rich as 'Aphex Twin' pioneered with, for example Come to Daddy & Drukqs and taken it that one stage futher dare I say just out of RDJ reach for demented demonic madness.

It could also be argued that this is why RDJ went back to perfect his analogue style although a million copycat laptop tennagers could also be something to do with this.

Of corse ole Richy still has the edge in synth programming and production finesse as well as having a little more variation and depth to his work but for 'out&out' extreme mental savageness I personally think Mr Snares has pissed on his chips a little and he knows it.

nonsense

To all who said that Snares hasn't developed at all in the recent years, you all need to buy the Horsey Noises EP. Listen to Pig Dync and again tell us there's been no development. And as for Snares imitating Analord, that's a little silly. The Analord series being releasing in January of 2005, and the first Last Step EP came out in May of 2005. If you guys know the processing time it takes for records to come out, you would know there was no possible way that Aaron could have heard Analord 10 and then started 'copying' it with his Last Step project. Not to mention that what 1961 was doing was more of a homage to disco in Mr. Funk's style than what Analord did. 1961 is an album that is amazing in its own right, I don't know why everyone feels compelled to constantly compare him to Aphex. They are two different people doing two different things, and both are fantastic musicians. Reading some of these comments really makes me doubt whether some of the users posting on here have even listened to any of Snares' recent material.

If you read my post, you will see that I said due to the release of the Horsey Noises EP, I see Snares moving forward for a change. I do not believe Filth is a very good album, it seems like just another crazy Snares album. With HN, I can see improvement and innovation. And I do agree with what you regarding the Last Step/Analord similarities, I don't think he copied him (unless he heard Analord somehow, pood all over his pants, and changed his album lol)

THATS HOW U NO U GOD WHEN YOU GOTA MODEL AND SHE THROW UP ON YO DICK BECAUSE ITS SO BIG AND YOUR IN A LIMO GOING TO A LIL B CONCERT - Lil B

Snares haters piss me off. I don't like his 1st couple, up to and including "Cats" but the guy has talent. And Last Step is good too, despite fuckers calling it analord ripoff. Horsey Noises... wow... Pig Dync is fucking great. Filth isn't the best but I like it, I just don't listen to it very much.

You're talking about Venetian Snares though. He releases like 5-6 albums a year!

so what's his best album or EP? I'd like to know because everything I tried was shit for the most part so I gave up really

What have you heard?

Well I'll just say which albums I like the most.

Huge Chrome Cylinder Box Unfolding for it being less aggressive but still intricate. My favourite track is Ion Divvy.

Cavalcade of Glee and Dadaist Happy Hardcore Pom Poms for being intense and upbeat but still listenable for me (whereas Detrimentalist and Filth I still can't get on with). And Vache and Plunging Hornets are great.

Rossz csillag alatt született

Hospitality, similar to Calvacade. The tracks Frictional Nevada and Hospitality are great.

I like Meathole as well, though it seems to rarely get mentioned. Aamelotasis is my favourite.

I love the last few tracks as well.

  • 2 months later...

i suspect he would give him some credit for

'Rossz Cs!llag Alatt Született'. that

album and a few other selected works are the

only ones i give much time.

he certainly wouldn't have picked the DNA lounge

for SF stop of W!sp 'n' Snares tour.....place is a

septic tank. i still might go though.

......R!chard and ! have the same taste.

There's a lot of hate on Filth in this thread. I absolutely love that album and don't see where all the hate comes from.

Horsey Noises is cool too. I think the only Vsnares releases I don't find great are: Shitfuckers!!, 7 Seven Meds, and A Giant Alien Force More Violent & Sick Than You Can Imagine.
