i did a thread on that fuzzy as shit test footage they showed at Comicon last year as "Tr2n", so i thought it was fitting to do another. now, it has a better title, and much better quality trailer.

The original does look more inspired and creative, I mean what's so special about the looks of this new Tron? You just can't beat these legends:

CGI these days is all made with presets and generic chinese artists, there's a reason the special effects all look the same.

cgi young jeff bridges is a little creepy, and not because it looks great either .

I'm stoked but at the same time, getting those "Speed Racer" vibes which aren't good. The director's commercials have all been really cool. So I remain hopeful!

i love AE, but i can think of precious few things that would suck more than a score done by them.

having said that, i'm pretty psyched about this. i'm a little nervous about the all-CG characters... what i loved about the original TRON was the way live action was blended in... but i can forgive overuse of CG if the STORY is compelling... so i'm hoping they come through there.

i have to admit, the trailer got me really really excited for this...

This will be interesting, since the original really was remembered for the groundbreaking special effects, not the story. Nowadays, stuff like this is the norm, so the story will have to be the strong point here.

Yeah, my first thought was that it looked a bit shit. Proof that CGI can still look rubbish and wholly unrealistic.

what was cool about the original is how wild a lot of the scenes look that did not have CGI with those weird real-time luminescent colored suits. If they used a technique like that with today's technology it would look fucking awesome, but yeah this just looks like they are cutting all the corners that back then they wouldn't have cut with cheapo CGI. i'm excited about a retro new tron sequel but it doesn't even look as good as the original did.
