But that would be the same as releasing them digitally as .flac (provided the compression software used was legit) since the .flac can be unfolded back out to the proper .wav file (and back again) if need be. On that note, I don't understand why BLEEP are suddenly offering their back catalogue as .wav files. .flac files are the same same thing but half the size. Oh lol, sure i know Wav's are digital, top of the range quality is what i am talking about. Just compare Reunion 2, the snare hits. The FLACs are muffled. I've never heard one way or the other myself. I guess it's quite insignificant, as we can't hear it, but there are definitely occasional bits of sound in the 25-28Khz range coming off the vinyl, mostly from drum sounds, that have been lost in the CD transfer. Below, 2 snippets from Analord, Boxing Day and Reunion. First half, vinyl (normalised to 0db), second half CD (reduced in level to match the volume of the vinyl). Look at the waveforms, pretty clear to see what was done to the CD boxingday.flacFetching info... reunion.flacFetching info... That looks like another Death Magnetic. Sadly my record player is more than 30 years old. It still works and sounds quite good, but there's just one speaker working anymore (with no way of connecting it to my modern amp). Thus I guess it wouldn't make sense for me to buy the Analord series without buying a proper record player first.
