Black Hawk Down was great, American Gangster was trash, Gladiator was a movie to see with the girlfriend. Still I welcome a new Alien, just hope it is at least +16 and not for 12 and up.

what's with all the ridley scott hate? he's one of the only directors working right now where i will without question go and watch his movies. even if his recent output has been a mixed bag... i'm pumped for this and anything else he's working on.

i wish he was still doing blood meridian. that's like the perfect novel for him to adapt.

He's about to fuck up Robin Hood...

It can't be worse than the Kevin Costner Robin Hood.

Remember Alexander? If anybody can, this man can.

First of all, Ridley Scott had nothing to do with Oliver Stone's Alexander.

Secondly, he's still making great films.

Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, Kingdom of Heaven, Body of Lies...American Gangster was disappointing, but it wasn't terrible.

Sucked

the former pussied out at its climax and the latter was just war porn.

I agree with both sentiments, but still enjoyed them nonetheless. As you said in your last post, I'd rather watch a bad Ridley Scott film than most good Hollywood films.

(A Good Year comes to mind...wtf was that? Should have been an ABC After School Special!)

Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, Kingdom of Heaven, Body of Lies

those films are all extremely derivative and very vanilla even for the genre they are in... i'm not so embarrassed about my love for Lady in the water now!

i dont hate him i just only like one film of his, Alien. he's kind of like John Boorman for me, he only had one truly great film and everything he has done since is heavily flawed. im not a big fan of blade runner either.

kingdom of heaven wasn't vanilla. it was actually kind of innovative.

i'd have to see the extended edition, i just thought the casting of orlando bloom who i think is a very bad actor was a trendy marketing decision it really brought down the movie for me

edit: i honestly don't remember it a whole lot, it's reputation proceeds it and i guess i was just expecting a more interesting film, and you're right out of all the ones overlook mentioned that is probably the most non hollywood. Although i would argue it was riding the coat tails of a hollywood trend at the time of period piece epic action films but probably the better of the lot

bloom was ok in lotr

in small doses he is ok, i just don't think he can carry a lead role or has successfully in any film to date

so..... is this movie really going to be about 'alien jockeys' ? the gigantic humanoid creature we see that Geiger created in the original aliens movie with the facehugger attached, are they really planning on showing those dudes riding around on aliens? i dont know where i read this was the plot but it sounds incredibly bad like a made up synopsis just to fuck with people

bloom was alright. i agree that he's probably the film's low point. but it has one of the most respectful and sympathetic, if historically inaccurate, portrayals of saladin and the arabs in general. and i liked that sentiment, even if it wasn't really truthful. you should probably watch the director's cut, it fixes a major issue from the theatrical version that previously brought the entire film down.

you are smoking crack. The problem with Kingdom of Heaven is the script and characterization are as cliche as they come. Here is the Honorable Blacksmith™, plying his trade. Oh no, there is a Twisted and Duplicitous Priest™, what is he up to? Of course, he had a hand in doing the unspeakable to the blacksmith's Raped Wife™. The blacksmith murders the priest in a fit of rage (the priest is so EVIL there is no ambiguity in the act) and must flee. But ho, what's this? He meets his kindly Surprise Biological Father™, who dies but not before giving his son a meal ticket to the promised land. Rounding out the cast are the Honorable Arab™(also featured in Body of Lies), the Villainous Crusader™, the Benevolent but Ailing Leader™ the Bewitching but Politically Saavy and Masculine-Looking Love Interest™ (a staple of Scott films, makes me wonder if he's gay) with her Sickly Child™. Oh yeah, and Jeremy Irons™. Orlando Bloom was one of the less objectionable parts of the movie. I liked some of the battle stuff but overall the movie is comprised of terrible dialogue and some ugly chick mooning at the camera while some drapes blow in slow motion, terribly boring.

After this I listened to geogaddi and I didn't like it, I was quite vomitting at some tracks, I realized they were too crazy for my ears, they took too much acid to play music I stupidly thought (cliché of psyché music) But I knew this album was a kind of big forest where I just wasn't able to go inside.

I was in US tjis summer, and eat in KFC. FUCK That's the worst thing i've ever eaten. The flesh simply doesn't cleave to the bones. Battery ferming. And then, foie gras is banned from NY state, because it's considered as ill-treat. IT'S NOT. KFC is tourist ill-treat. YOU POISONERS! Two hours after being to KFC, i stopped in a amsih little town barf all that KFC shit out. Nice work!

So i hope this woman is not like kfc chicken, otherwise she'll be pulled to pieces.

Whilst it's a story that probably doesn't need to be told, original Alien Director Ridley Scott has confirmed he'll be stepping in to take the reins on Alien 5. The story is set to a prequel, which will be about how the alien craft that crash landed on the planet in the original movie came to be there.

I'm kind of meh about this, as the mystique of that ship and how it came to be there might be best left to the imagination. Still, Scott as the helm, rather than some hack, can only be a good thing.

the ending of alien 4 was pretty interesting! damit !! : spaceship going back to EARTH !! with a possibility of being alien infested

hollywood always has to fuck it up somehow

There was a series of books I read in middle school, that dealt with that. The 1st one was called Earth Hive from what I remember. I liked it. There were 2 more in the series methinks but I can't remember the names.
