The Lovely Bones - trailer

i know there's some Jackson fans on this forum, so i thought i'd post this. i must say i'm very underwhelmed by the trailer, but maybe after 4 FX heavy movies in a row, he wants to do something more personal. looks like What Dreams May Come meets another bad Marky Mark movie to me, but we'll see.

you guys can't judge this because it has similarities to what dreams may come. the first half of that movie was decent, and the part with the heaven stuff was awesome. that is the only part that has similarities to lovely bones.

Yeah my first thought was "What Dreams May Come" meets "Heavenly Creatures". There are things I like about the trailer and things I don't like... not sure about it.

At least it looks more interesting than LOTR or King Kong... I wasn't into those at all.

the book was Christian propaganda shit. Unless it got good in the second half, I could only make it halfway through.

Heavenly Creatures was good but this won't be.

It was a pretty terrible book. Last time I take a reading recommendation from mum.

I like the kid in the film. She's got a really special face.

But I'm afraid I don't have high hopes for this one.

I thought the LotR movies were a really mixed bag. Jackson is a talented filmmaker, no doubt, but he's also a weird one. He seems about as emotionally out of touch as Spielberg, and he favors these weird camera moves (the ugly slow-mo, circling shots, etc) that are more annoying visual tics than anything else. I was really impressed with Heavenly Creatures when it came out, I think that's still the best of his I've seen. I have seen Meet the Feebles and Bad Taste, which give him street cred at least, hard to say whether they are good or bad films unless you're an afficionado of that sort of low budget gross out horror. I really wish he was capable of more subtletly.

my mom has good taste in books usually

i'm probably the biggest peter jackson fan in here and i don't think this movie looks very good. i can't believe people keep giving lead roles to mark whalberg

District 9 felt more like an old pj movie than this trailer does

yeah whatever man maybe he does a good job lets just be positive about this , i dont believe peter jackson can do wrong
