There are currently two soulseeks: the old server (which is a ghost town) and the new server (called version 157 NS).

You can actually run both simultaneously, if you're so inclined.. but really the new server is the one you want. The search function actually works!

The best way to find the WATMM room is to right-click the room list, hit "create room" and type WATMM (all caps, important) in the dialogue box. If you're in the room all by yourself, then you've done something wrong...

Aye we figured this out last night, 16 people in there but no one really chats.

Also, I cant seem to browse peoples files an my little slsk icon has a red mark on it...why is this plz?

Yeah, I haven't quite figured out the red mark either... I guess it's just a way to distinguish betwixt the old & new server icons...

Unless you got your soulseek from one of those scam sites instead of slsknet.org, I don't see how this is possible. Soulseek blocks dodgy file extensions (.exe and the like) by default, so you'd have to go out of your way to find some non-musics files that weren't blocked, download them, double-click/run, etc. Consider it a compliment that I don't consider you retarded enough to do this

Whatever you caught sure it was probably from something else, maybe around the time your were trying out soulseek. I've been using slsk for 6/7 years now and never heard of anyone catching anything nasty from it.

If you're leery of using SLSK, maybe run it with PeerGuardian2, which blocks known malicious ip's.
