last one i heard was hello nasty which was great. had lots of different styles. heard it recently after a few years and it still sounded strong.

no idea what they've done since then.

i also had a shouty punkish ep by them that i loved but now don't own or remember the title of. anyone?

Unless people start raving about this album being awesome I really doubt I'm even going to check this one out. Just sold a few of my old Beastie Boys CD's I guess I'm just over them. (also don't need the CDs :spiteful: )

It is true, and I thought that it was delaying the new album but apparently it's still coming out October 6 (originally Sept. 15 though). Supposedly it was caught in time and has been treated.

I agree with Glass Plate though, unless people start raving about this album being great, I probably won't bother. To the 5 Boroughs didn't appeal to me at all...I didn't even bother when it first came out. I guess I was over them even though I still enjoyed the older stuff on occasion. I just didn't feel I needed anything new, they were past their prime. The Mix-Up was ok for what it was, at least pleasant in comparison to the previous one. So...this better be good!

hmmmm.

i think the beastie boys should stop RAPPING.

keep making music, there's no denying they are amazing musicians/producers.

and i'm sorry but dudes cannot front that the beasties don't put down some fresh shit.

maybe not everything these days, but there's still some funk nuggets.

but the raps man...yikes.

especially mike d...mics should get a restraining order when he's in the studio.

That's basically what I was thinking when 5 boroughs came out...they're too old to rap, it's just silly. They just need to expand on their instrumental shit.

Maybe they can progress from their rap style into another type of vocal style? I don't know. I just feel they need to mature a bit to stay relevant.

Tadlocks Glasses suprised me, in a really good way. Seems like they're experimenting again.

5 boroughs was too basic for my taste. I felt it was a huge step backwards from the versatility and production madness of Hello Nasty

tadlock glasses is alright, nice direction i suppose but i honestly don't think it will be impressionable at all. still sounds gimmicky to me.

gimmicky? come on it's the beasties!

^that seems to be the general feeling, 5 boroughs was just stale, boring loops and such. I have a friend whose a huge Beastie Boys fan, has met them and even texts/tweets them directly, so I will hear at least one good review in the future.

The only thing I've heard/seen is that funnyordie promo with all of these celebrities portraying the Beasties, which was kinda funny but a bit annoying (fitting I suppose). I don't expect anything worthwhile, and they've paid their due with past releases so I don't care if it blows.
