Ive watched the odd episode of King of the Hill, often at 3 in the morning when completely baked, but i cant see exactly what is captivating about the show. What makes it good?

there's an episode where hank hill finds out he has no ass and he has to get a prosthetic one to cushion his boney behind.

he also gets raped by a dolphin and finds out he has an almost identical japanese brother (no correlation to the dolphin rape).

that is why king of the hill is amazing.

And on top of that, nothing about the show ever seemed too wacky for real life. The characters are eccentric but strangely familar, and just about every plot is one of those stories you read in the local news or had a buddy tell you about.

Regarding the Texas setting, this show is the most dead-on portrayal of the average Texas small town, probably more so than any other fictional treatment of the state. I know people here in Texas who hate the show because of that, but I personally find it comforting. Hell, even DFW and Houston have a lot of Southeast Asian residents than people, including Laotions, I tell you what.

The Beavis and Butthead short featuring Halloween is one of the best:

Nice, I haven't seen this one. I have the DVD collection but they didn't put all the episodes on it, I think a least 1/3 of it isn't officially out there.

Stephen Root made the show what it was, he did so many characters I couldn't keep track of em, but you could always tell it was him. Like he had mastered every possible drawl in Texas. I will miss this show, and yes thank god for adult swim.

Positive Metal Attitude

There was a great episode on last night where Hank's boss gets Hank's son Bobby a job at a Country Club he belongs to, and takes a liking to him as a surrogate replacement for his own son, and ends up in Hot Springs, Arkansas in a gambling den. Hank of course goes to rescue his son, and he passes a sign welcoming him to Hot Springs, where it says "Home of Bill Clinton" and Hank immediately locks the doors on his truck, LOL.

Been watching this recently, started it from the beginning on netflix. I fucking love this show, when I tried watching when I was younger I was like where is the beavis and butthead humor but now as an adult I think it's a very funny show with awesome characters.

I'm about to the middle of the 3rd season, I am full on ready to go be a Texan and drive a truck and catch fish with Crack rocks now I'll tell you what.

Hey friend, looks like you could use a hammer.

Fucking awesome show and I appreciate the Stephen Root love. He was in an Episode of Louie, and he made that episode hilarious as the molesting dentist. He needs more recognition.
