LMAO, the UK has a lot more to offer 'one' than a shop in Sheffield you know lol

think of it as like all the best bits of the US rolled into one small island.

and as it's such a small island there's not as many idiots here per square metre. NO, hang on a minute that doesn't make sense. lol

SOHO.

Come over, you're welcome here

don't read in the avatar too much. and yes, insane dance music sounds wonderful whilst on drukqs.

what a load of wank. Another corporate sham by Warp to 'go back to the good old days' with the clear attempt to appeal to the next generation of kidz.

Fuck that. Looks like a bloody fashion boutique from the photo - not a proper record shop.

"oh look, we have some wee Glasgow gadgie from Pollokshields working behind the counter, come see us!"

WANK.

Eh? It was only open for what, 3 days. I think you're being a bit harsh. Looked like a fairly fun way to celebrate their 20th. Too easy to moan over the internet!

yep, definitely a bit harsh. a lot of the stuff in there was cheap-as-fuck.

i picked up a mint copy of the Geogaddi promo (unopened, still sealed) for £10 - that's the cheapest i've ever seen that. Most of the other stuff they were selling in there was pretty reasonably priced too (records, cds). the only things that were marked up at "RRP" was the books and the t-shirts.

i thought it was a great way to celebrate the 20th anniversary, but i guess you had to be there

Agreed to previous two posts.

I saw the temp shop and thought the personal appearances were a nice touch.

There were a fairly diverse range of people milling around / buying, as well.

Would have been really cool to check out if I was in the UK, I would have spent way too much money though!

nah sorry. all this sudden change of opinion about Warp not being the misdirected corporate brand pandering to the 'yute' of today and it being back 'on the street' and connecting with fans and all that shit is just baloney. Just because its 20yrs old doesnt shroud the reality of how far away the label/corporation has moved from its real roots and people that helped it get there. opening some schlock retail installation back in Yorkshire reeks of the kind of thing a Londoncentric yuppie company would do these days as part of a Channel 4 fly on the wall docudrama - "Warp reaches out to its original fans in the Steel City: a 3 part special"

FUCK RIGHT OFF.

sorry. just stick to the basics and whack out the over priced anniversary boxset (which i bought incidentally)and be done with it, then get back to farting out Maximo Park, Hud Mo or whatever other lousy shite they are intent on peddling these days.

Everyone will be back to bemoaning what Warp has become in 6mths time - this shop stunt just hastens their demise if you ask me. Far too sickly for my liking.

Jesus. When was the last time you got laid? You're a very angry man. Obviously you expect a company to stay in exactly the same place for 20 years, putting out exactly the same music to exactly the same people. Times change dude, deal with it!

not angry at all. as for last time i got laid, im married mate - so fucking ages ago! :)

nothing to do with wanting a company to stay the same, if you dont think its piss poor shiny commercialism opening a 'boutique' back in the old hood, having long since fucked off to the big towers of london, then that's fine. im not trying to convince you or anyone else for that matter. just expressing an opinion, that I think its a cynical pile of poo. much like the label in general, against the context of what it once was, culturally speaking.

but then, thats just the way of the world these days - very few iconic creative operations haven't turned into glossy faux commercial moneyspinners more intent on turnover than breaking ground.

i dont want times to change, i want it to be 1999 forever and ever and ever and ever and ever.

dude.
