I'm looking forward to giving Amber a full listen while at MoMA later this week. Should make for an excellent soundtrack.

a wonderful idea! i've done similar with incanabula (and some cool art museums in d.c.) but i almost feel amber would be more suiting. old afx is great, too.

Foil is an amazing opener. It has such a wonderful, bold texture, and it always makes me think about big, bright underwater explosions. Some other highlights on this album:

Silverside, especially when it detunes @ 3:29. Awesome.

Slip's melody

The overall feeling of Glitch

The beginning of Further. Gotta love that harmony.

Every second of Nil, with its underlying sadness dragging my soul away...

The epic finale that is Teartear

Overall, while it was great to hear Amber properly for the first time in a while, I was actually a little disappointed. Some of the tracks seem kinda weak, or they seem to drag on for way too long, especially Piezo and Further. Don't get me wrong, some of these tracks are amongst æ's finest output, but somehow this album doesn't seem as great as it once did. There is one possible explanation: Last week I started listening to Music In Twelve Parts by Philip Glass (for those who don't know, it is AWESOME) and this style of music seems to be making the rest of my collection seem tame in comparison. So, yeah, maybe this is just a brief phase that I'll soon grow out of, hopefully in time for Confield week.

I'll be listening to Garbage pretty soon, so that should sort me out. Til next time, fuck a Jesus.

@mesh gear fox: They are the right tracks they just clip off at the wrong points. I checked it against discogs and its all proper besides those two tracks.

Also, about me not buying the album, basically I would buy their entire discography but I don't have the money to do that at this point because I have saved up money and no job and I'm in school so no means of making money really. Once I have a steady paying job and some decent income for a a period I will buy the mp3s. I've already bought about 3 or 4 of the albums.

Just buy the albums used, it's cheaper than mp3s (if you look hard)

Teartear at MoMA=epic. The rest of the album less so. Still a good album. Slip is the bomb.

Amber will affect people in different ways, that's the beauty of music as I am sure you are all aware. It is purposely subjective, so anyone can make their mind up about the music they hear - I would say that on the whole though, there are a lot of emotive qualities for me on Amber. It's the atmosphere they create which sets about the satisfaction I get from this album.

Seriously how much money you spent on amber do you think is in their pocket?

You are giving more money by going to a single show and buying one tee-shirt there than by buying the whole discography.

I use vynils. Amber costs 50 bucks, witheout the shipping. As a real fan, who would even travel just to watch them live, doesn't I have the right to own a virtual (bad) copy of this shit?
