The London-based dubstep label Hyperdub is now old enough to get into kindergarten. Over the past five years, Hyperdub has put out records by a hell of a lot of that genre's greatest artists, including Burial, Kode9, Joker, Zomby, and Darkstar. And the forthcoming 2xCD comp 5: 5 Years of Hyperdub will collect both new and/or classic material from all of them, plus tracks from kindred sprits such as Mala, Martyn, and Flying Lotus. And yes, to answer your question, that means a new Burial song. It's called "Fostercare". Get ready.

5 is due October 19 in the UK and the very next day in the U.S. This summer and fall, Hyperdub is putting out a series of 12" singles featuring new material from many of Hyperdub's artists. The first disc of 5 will collect all those tracks, with some bonus jams. The second disc, meanwhile, will function as a sort of greatest-hits, collecting older joints like Burial's "Distant Lights", Joker's "Digidesign", and Kode9 and the Spaceape's remix of the Specials' "Ghost Town".

CD1:

01 King Midas Sound: "Meltdown"

02 Kode9 & the Spaceape: "Time Patrol [ft. Cha Cha]"

03 Darkstar: "Aidys Girl's a Computer"

04 Samiyam: "Roller Skates"

05 Flying Lotus: "Disco Balls"

06 Black Chow: "Purple Smoke"

13 LD: "Shake It"

14 Quarta 330: "Bleeps From Outer Space"

15 Ikonika: "Sahara Michael"

16 Joker & Ginz: "Stash"

CD2:

01 Kode9: "9 Samurai"

02 Burial: "South London Boroughs"

03 Kode9 & LD: "Bad"

04 The Bug: "Money Honey Remix [ft. Warrior Queen]"

I have a passing, lazy interest in dubstep, so perhaps this is the sort of reputable compilation that would warrant my consideration.

i don't listen to as much dubstep as i used to, but hyperdub, skull disco and DMZ are the finest labels in dubstep (even though DMZ have done a skam and fucking never release anything any more) in my opinion

Fine, maybe you're right... But Hyperdub would be 100 times less known if it was not for Burial...

Burial would be 100 times less known if not for Pitchfork.

the burial tune is gorgeous by the way

(Bob Wilson) Sorry... you created that reality tunnel, you can find your way out... You built the Trap... you know the design better than anyone...sagatsfz3stage.jpg

...which is the only reason why people are downloading the leak.

Edit: the beats in Fostercare sound familiar, I wonder why... LOL OBVIOUSLY, BURIAL USES THE SAME DRUMKIT, WHATEVER HAPPENS!!!

lol they're releasing this compilation as if Hyperdub was an important label. Everybody only cares about Burial, while the rest remains infamous.

Haha, best troll for quite a while. Yeah, that's right, everyone only gives a shit about Burial

Infamous is not the antonym of famous. Are you suggesting the hyperdub roster is notorious? Or simply not famous?

I meant not famous, sorry for the confusion. I don't see how an artist who releases one 12-incher with 2 tracks can gain much attention, which is the case with many of Hyperdub's acts. I don't think this "5 years of Hyperdub" compilation means a lot, sincerely.

haha

u just 3 amigo'd urself amigo

plenty of good tunes from great artists on this comp

(Bob Wilson) Sorry... you created that reality tunnel, you can find your way out... You built the Trap... you know the design better than anyone...sagatsfz3stage.jpg

Because a lot of their catalogue is really fucking good music you berk. Hyperdub is ALWAYS breaking new ground, the quality control they have as a label is superb, and they've been there from day one. I would suggest you do your research a bit more, even if you don't like what they put out, they are a massively well regarded label.

Haha, you know what I mean, as far as dubstep goes when it was beginning to establish itself properly.

He was right the first time, most of these artists are now infamous....
