squarepusher Venus No. 17

First off, let me state that I'm been listening to Squarepusher for about 5 years now, and my more favorite sentimental albums tend to be the FMWT/Burningn'n Tree type era stuff. I didn't really get the whole Go Plastic thing until this summer, and Venus No. 17 got lost in the shuffle.

But OH MY GOD. The Venus 17 Acid Mix may be the most brutal and awesome thing I've ever heard.

Scratch that , this EP is the shit. Can I get some love? I wouldn't mind constructive criticism of the work though, for those haters out there lol....

isn't constructive crit usually reserved for the people who compose the music? It is rather useless in a random fan boy's hands but i dunno maybe i'm missing something.

Tundra 4 is easily top 5 Squarepusher for me. The ethereal organ-style notes mixed in with the thrashing ending, it beats the original Tundra in my book sometimes.

Tundra 4 is my #2 pusher song.

Fuck yer.

Venus 17 starts the party in all it's forms too.

i used to not think too highly of 'Tundra 4' since the original is one of my sentimental favorites from a long time ago. I'm starting to come around now.

Tundra 4 is such a beast of a track. Venus is good but Tundra absolutely takes things to the next level, one of Squarepusher's best

The real question here is Venus 17 vs Acid Mix

Regular builds better but the weird staccato drums around 1:30 of Acid mix push that one over the edge for me

yeah that bit is just brilliant

back when this came out and i was living at home my mom caught me spasticly dancing to tundra 4. i was slightly embarrassed but kept dancing once she left.

and sini insisted that this track was new Aphex, (so much so that he made a wacky bet to shave off his hair or something?)

if he had released the same exact tracks as in that breezeblock - that would be the best ever. I wish he had released that alternate version of Anstromm-feck.
