i recall the time i fed a bunch of ~10 iguanas in costa rica with a rucksack full of lettuce. they kept fighting over leaves and biting eachother even when they were practically swimming in lettuce leaves. they're programmed to fight, regardless of resources innit.

I understand what you are trying to say, however what you may not grasp is that we have a far more evolved brain than the iguanas; i.e. they have something we call the old brain - this regulates temperature and keeps the heart pumping. This is the part of the brain we also call 'instinctive'. What this means for your iguanas is unfortunately they cannot think about when they are full or sharing. We humans, to a degree, can be like your iguanas, but we have learned to think beyond this and share.

i'm suggesting that everyone possesses that "gene" in them, and that personal will and/or specific education is needed to suppress it. there's perpetual ethnic strife going on around the world, be it random tribal warfare that still goes on across most of africa, or ethnic conflict even in rich-ish regions like the caucasus and northern ireland. it's not like the loyalists and IRA are fighting over resources, is it? they're fighting out of xenophobia and never-ending cycles of asinine reaction. and look at students. supposedly educated folk that certainly aren't existing in a lacking state of resources, yet they will start fighting at the drop of a hat if an "us" and "them" scenario is ever established. seen enough of that in Leicester, which has 2 unis. always massive tension and fights in pubs whenever there's a Leicester uni v DMU bar crawl, or whenever they play eachother at football. and most students in this country had an upbringing a world apart from most chavs, so i don't see environmental upbringing as having much of an effect.

Yes its true, their basic needs might be fulfilled, however it is their value systems that are instilled into them by their environment. Think about it for a second, if you were raised by dogs, you would possess dog-like behaviors over time. If these university brawls are happening, that's just because of 'tradition' instilled into 'freshman' and the stories of hatred they hear, then of course some of them will follow in their footsteps, won't they?

I only stopped answering certain questions as I thought I had already answered them in previous responses. If I were to resurrect that thread, I'd more than likely create resentment among people here anyway.. I get the idea that most people choose ignorance over learning new things here at watmm. There are too many egos on the internet.

aw :(

my point was about how zeitgeist would be initially implemented across the world. i can't see it being possible without russian revolution-style violence.

A resource based economy can not be implemented until we try and educate as many people about it as possible. Imagine if we took the whole of the UK population, and put them into an RBE - what do you think might happen? They still hold onto the values which they have learned and picked up from a monetary system so they wouldn't be able to cope with such a drastic change. They'll be stealing things which are in abundance! - which does not make sense! So it all depends on a process of education - this is why we have The Zeitgeist Movement, acting as the activist arm for The Venus Project. There's also a transition process, which I believe we are currently going through right now.. The transition can be done in many different ways. Two likely processes are:

- A complete crash of the money system resulting in people losing complete trust in politicians and the political system as a whole. Remember in your History class that people during the Great Depression were looking for an alternative system to live by as they felt cheated by Capitalism. What we propose though is a complete redesign - without the need for money, but only using technology to optimize our lives. People back in the 1930s were attending communist and socialist meetings in large numbers - this has never really been seen before in history.

- The other transition process is to allow machine automation to gradually decrease the working day for everyone so that people have smaller hours at work but still receive a relatively healthy wage to survive. Then when we see hours at work being completely reduced, people will want to seek a new system which alleviates them entirely from their work.

i particularly like the way it is missing the blue fill between his arm and head (ie. the mind). it's a somewhat subversive element to the design that accentuates the primary sentiment onto a deeper level. to me it says that through strength of pride at being white, you can even affect the environment around you, bridging the gap between signified gesticulation and mental opinion. truly enlightened imagery.

true. i guess the shirt is implying that if, like the bear, you surround an entity of differing colour with your own body parts, you neutralise it and make it white too. i guess from this shirt, we learn that it's possible to eliminate ethnic minorities if we force them into ghettos and surround them with white people, just like the bear eliminates the blue patch by surrounding it with his white fur.

Ezkerraldean:

racism is a social construct, as are most things in our world. Different societies have different cultural values which is where you get racism from. Racism (as in all things to do with culture) is a product of enculturation. Racism is most certainly not an inherent gene, all you have to do is look at kids playing together.

if you took a chav kid at birth and threw him in the lord high manor, he or she would almost certainly grow up to be like other offspring of the socially "elite".

Enhance your critque by providing your own argument. The idea that racism is a product of enculturation is like Anthro 100.
