SAW 1 - Remasters vs Original

Recommended Posts

I did pick up the "In Order To Dance" R&S reissue which I'm assuming is similarly remastered. It doesn't sound bad, but then again I didn't have those tracks in the first place, where I do already have SAW1.

Referring to the CD remaster, the only difference I could really discern was boosted volume, hence some of the louder tracks have probably lost some dynamic range through compression. It's an odd album to remaster since the tape warbles and various imprefections are so integral to it's sound (which R & S must have agreed with since these were left in). This is a very weak remastering job in my opinion and if I were you I'd save my money, particularily if you already have the original pressing.

The same goes for the Classics remaster; these are lazy reissues for cash.

yeah, probably, but i couldn't pass up the opportunity to have saw1 on vinyl!
