I never thought I'd like Confield, never mind love it.

Pen Expers is just unbelievably good, a celebration. Bine is scary but great, I think of alien lifeforms on Mars when I listen to it and I love it when those low rolling drums come in towards the end.

Triangle is another scary one but turns out beautiful and scary at the same time.

The only track I don't like is sim gishel, it sounds like alien jazz without any tune.

just noticed that in Pen Expers at about 4:44-4:45 there is what seems to be a very brief but relatively un-altered vocal sample.... I never realized this was here before and its strange for ae to put voices in that aren't really computer-fucked up the ass but it fits

I don't hear it. I just hear a "wzz" sound that I suppose could be seen as a voice, but I don't think it is for some reason. A similar noise is at 5:20.

It reminded me of Surripere.

i love the beginning and very end of lentic catachresis (with the glitching). the middle part, i still haven't 'unlocked' yet.

and parhelic triangle is definitely the best track, imo.

i didn't hate lentic catachresis this time when i listened. maybe it will get better with time? that's still the only track on confield i just can't get down with.

it's a nice exercise to tap your foot along with bine. i'm not sure if i found the real tempo or just the most used delay time. that song grooves to me like nothing else though!

I would love for them to do another album with a similar sense of adventure to Confield. Not that I haven't enjoyed their works since - but they threw away the rulebook with that one, and I'd love to see them do it again.

I've never been a huge fan of Confield (actually prefer lp5 and Draft), though for me Uviol is one of the most fascinating tracks they've ever done. While it's similar in some respects to Recury with the persistent underlying rhythm, I love the duality of it, how it oscillates between beauty and madness. And the 16+ minute version of it from the 2008 webcast is insane!

yes that was beautiful, has anybody managed to clip that song as well as the other handful of long versions they did ? I recall one from Draft as well that was over 12 minutes.

Confield has never been my favourite Ae album. I really should listen to it more though, as I know how highly rated it is by so many of you.

Pen Expers has been one of my absolute favourites for some time though; it totally rocks.

Will have to give the album a heavy rotation over the next few days to really give the rest of the tracks a good listen. Maybe it'll click for me too...
