An hour long presentation, but for those who take the time to watch this it probably will change a lot of how you think. Its presented by Richard Dawkins for those who care.

Is there a transcription somewhere? I'd rather read for forty minutes than listen for an hour.

i'm struggling quite badly with the fight between religion and science. i hate how the science people treat religion like a dog. but i know that they have something to say, the scientists. nothing would be more awesome though, than if richard dawkins came to a realization of something spiritual.

Watched the whole thing. Really good.

i can't wait for the discovery of multiple universes. a deep space photo of all the universes.

Towards the end he doesn't fully hint at the fact that the universe is infinite.

He states that in a billion years time whatever astronomers that evolve and learn will see our galaxy disappearing into the nothingness of space, like we see distant galaxies today.

He notes that at such distances a plasma becomes present, making observation of anything prior to that impossible. Surely, that's what we're seeing today. We can't see the Big Bang because it's behind a plasma.

Fucking infinite enveloping shit, man.

In the Q&A section right at the end he says that if we were to create a universe, as creators we'd only see it collapsing into a black-hole, whereas anything inside the new universe would see it expanding into infinity.

Fuck, this is futile.

that quote about the stars is actually cool though. it isn't all that dodgy to consider stars living organisms. after all, they basically reproduce.

Yeah, it's blatantly obvious that Dawkins just really needs a good, hard, long wank.

Once Dawkins shuts up this is actually a damn good video (though Krauss shares Dawkin's tendency to take smug potshots at religion)

it's silly when the most respected scientists shit on religion. it's like, if you're a scientist that uses the scientific method, the very notion of faith is insulting to your profession, why do you have to even dignify religion (dualism) as being part of the same thing? one method explains stuff from an observational, reproduce-able, research based method, the other is "believing" that a story is true, which may contain no observations or replicable results. seems like dawkins helps to legitimize religion by offering it as an alternative means for explanation. just putting it in the same room as science is silly. he should just explain things as he knows how to explain them and keep his blunt wit in the closet.

can't wait to go home and watch the whole thing though, i enjoy listening to dawkins the majority of the time.

the potshots keep them in the limelight though. it's mostly showbiz, if you ask me.

regardless of if you're correct or not, you will always have a hard time getting people warm to your ideas if you're a smug dick.

on sagan, spot on. the man was a poet, who could get people excited about this stuff through his amazing descriptions and analogies, and his choice of words.

we need more humble people like carl, and less smug pricks like dawkins.

just finished the original Krauss vid, I did get chills at the end, as with that short story that was posted here about the eventual death of the universe from entropy. It never occurred to me that the universe can accelerate away from us at faster than the speed of light, which means in the far, far future observers will see our galaxy in the middle of nothingness, with no evidence of the big bang or other galaxies...that's extremely disturbing.
