Who says they have to release anything? They've given us so much fucking excellent music already

honestly, i dont have anything against that : actually, my favorite bands are on a 2 albums (if not 3) release a year.

boris, mika vainio, bjnilsen & sunno))) are truly productive now. i'm more worried about Oval, nothing new since 2003).

i always stop liking bands after they stop producing music.

Boc was good yesterday, is even better today. The future maybe unknown, but the physic time is a nonsense without emotion. The Sandison brothers drop they work when they want.

While, listening to other styles & music could be an idea.

Is Oval still doing that project with Eriko Toyoda? Idk much about it I guess, I just assumed he fell off the face of the Earth.

I met steve beckett in berlin last week and he said new BOC will be released very soon

anyway this isn't really news isn't it as MDG said it already some weeks ago?

I guess posting this ultimatum really got them working.

i agree with the OP. this is what I've said about Aphex as well. i am one of the few who do believe professional artists (who have an obvious following) owe their fans a bit of a 'heads up', to a certain extent. it's negligent to just ignore the people who have basically made you successful just to be mysterious and whatever.

Appearing ungrateful for your near impossible levels of success is SOOOO IDM though.

are you serious about your ultimatum? who cares if BoC ever release another album. i would be happy with their back catalogue (boc maxima and before) tbh. there is so much good music out there. i got over this waiting game in 2008, and it helped me get back to my roots of what i liked, detroit, ambient, minimal techno, d&b. not to mention other experimental artists doing the rounds. i understand your fever, but not your fervor. just relax, and why not check out some of the artists around here who are making music?

The wait only means that the final product will be better. Partially because they will have had more time to perfect it, and as well as the relief that it has finally arrived.

c'mon artists owe fans nothing. when they make stuff we buy or we don't. they can opt out or take a break when and if they please... it's not like you are their employer cos you bought a cd.

I don't release my maps for years, and sometimes I don't release. But when someone asks me about them I will tell them strait up what the status of that map is, if I'm working on it currently etc. In the end, yeah, it's their "right" to be mysterious and vauge. Maybe that's their kind of style. I'm not a diehard fan, I haven't even listened to all of their tracks, or like all of their music. But I do check here every couple of weeks now, just hopeing there will be some news on the new album. I personally think it's kind of lame for them to seemingly purposely keep their fans in the dark. I mean are they even alive? Does anyone even know? I mean do they even have jobs or are they living off the money from their last released albums? I don't even know. It's their right to be mysterious, but I agree I think it's kind of lame personally how purposely non-connected they are with their fans. I'm not making an ultimatum, when they release some new music I'll buy it, and I'm not trying to put any pressure on them I sometimes have anxiety issues when ppl ask me when I'm gonna release stuff, I just feel sad that they couldn't just give their fans a tiny bit of an update on where they are at. You know?

They can release something eventually if they want, while they've been idle I've just been giving lots of money to lots of other artists instead. That'll teach them.

Well, considering BoC makes music exclusively for Dragon, and he's threatening to stop being their fan, the logistics of this sound strategy have a good chance of being effective.
