The Box

I watched The Box and while I didn't hate it there was much to be desired.

I then watched the original and I didn't care for that one either, mostly because there was no ending or conclusion or realization or conflict.

Now I think if Kelly had actually made the characters in his movie like the ones from the TV show he would've had a much better movie.

The TV episode garners a spiteful, bitter relashionship between the couple and they have no kid and they live in a dump, while the movie couple has a loving, nurturing relashionship with a big fancy house and a seemingly emotionless child. This would have created greater drama between the characters and possibly a more fulfilling climax.

Now if you want to get to the actual written story it had a conclusion missing from the TV version and I can see why the writer didn't like the adaptation.

It's too bad O.G. has to keep his shitty engineering job at NASA instead of becoming an astronaut. Boo hoo.

I totally thought that if their characters actually needed the money, it would have created an actual conflict that would result in actual drama.

i thought the look of it was very unappealing, as was the noirish cheesy narration , i just don't like generic badly done edgey shit packaged as film. I like all of Robert rodriguez movies better than Sin City and that includes Shark Boy and Lava Girl 3d.

edit: not to mention that Mickey Rourke, clive Owen and Rosario Dawson are 3 terrible actors put together in one of the trendiest casting decisions of all time. fuck the movie sin city

I remember enjoying this when I saw it in a theater but watching it again on dvd was mostly disappointing. I thought Rourke embodied his character fairly well. My biggest problem was how incredibly obvious it was that everything was filmed in front of a green screen. This should have been filmed in classic noir style ala 'The Third Man'.

I remember enjoying the Box a few days ago.......

I think I need to again.....
