Thanksgiving

I've been bored at my father's place all day.  He's spent the whole day sitting on the sofa and watching tv and I'm just trying to occupy myself somehow.  I just want to be back at my own place.

Tried brining the turkey for the first time this year and damn was it good.  Never gonna go another year without brining.

Gotta meet up with some people in an hour. Just got finished making my signature three-bean avocado salad.

I guess it's a 400-year-old tradition now in the US, whose origins aren't exactly the wholesome story we've been taught growing up in grade school. Regardless, I feel obligated to participate once again to appease my elders. (BTW please don't let this fact discourage you from celebrating. Do what you gotta do.)

there were some local small protests w/this message here in portland. a decent amount of people celebrate today instead of thursday and they call it a "harvest celebration" or similar. seems fine. 

i went to a small gathering w/a couple friends. talked. ate food. ate more food and some pies.. brought a bit everything to a friend who was not feeling well. made for a nice walk after the meal but before the pie.
