wish I was in the music instrument purchasing market :(

Wish I had the money to be in it!! To much gear lust, not enough funds!

that's what I meant when I said I wish I was in it.

more of those goddamn little buttons. mfb gear feels like trying to put on a condom that's too small.

They truly are doing wonderful things with carbon nanotubes, aren't they? :P

Would work a treat with the Schlagzwerg I reckon. This also has 1/8th" patch points. Coincidence? It's a match made in heaven & I need both these bits of kit :D

i tried out a great deal of these:

Percussion Modules...

BD78

CR78 style kick BD88

TR808 style kick BD99

TR909 style kick

SD78

CR78 style snare SD88

TR808 style snare SD99

TR909 style snare

HH88

TR808 style open+closed hihat

(2 drum channels) CB88

TR808 style cowbell

TM88

TR808 style Tom Tom CG88

TR808 style Conga RS88

TR808 style Rimshot

CL88

TR808 style Claves

for their 'concussor' modular series and they were just not up to par, i'd rather be using samples of the boxes they are trying to clone because they don't even come close.

this seems to be the general consensus on analog heaven and vintagesynth

Yes, I've been looking at this as well. Very interesting. The fact the original SEM is being made again by Tom Oberheim kind of puts a bit of a dampner on the AS Telemark. Especially since it costs more, even for me buying in the UK. To get an Oberheim SEM imported from the States would be cheaper than buying a Telemark over here. I understand they are doing the basic version (I think with no box, just components & the front plate) for $599? That's really good. I wouldn't know which version to buy between the CV/Gate one with the patch points or the MIDI version. I don't really have a CV source at the moment so if I went for that one I'd also have to buy a Kenton MIDI > CV converter. Ah, decissions & the joys of gear lust :D

I ended up ordering a Oberheim SEM (MIDI > CV version). Who knows when it will arive as they are hand built to order. Well excited about this thing though. I reckon it will be late January or even February before I get this.

That's awesome! I'm jealous. That thing is a beast. Congrats. Feb. is likely a good estimated receive date.

I was told they are shipping again in Jan next year. But there's a bunch of people ahead of me waiting for there's so it might be a while until mine gets shipped. Something to look forward to though

Yeah Tom Oberheim really did it right with the price. A LOT of people have jumped on it, especially those frustrated by the sound of the prophet 08 (which i like but a lot don't) and the price/reliability of some Andromedas.

Oh god, would like that new SEM quite badly. Can't eat in to the Moog fund though :(

Rumors keep circulating that the next big moog synth will be a poly (other than the new taurus, but that's just a limited amount they are building, but that's mono anyway). I'm not so sure if they will do it though. I could see them maybe releasing some scaled down voyagers (in rack or module format) that are easily poly chained and an old school analog style cv controller. I myself would still be more interested in a poly tetra with lots of DSI's new - old style potentiometer knobs. I like the Moog sound just like most other people, but they are always too expensive and lack some of the more modern cool features that DSI and Alesis have brought to the table. Also the small format patch bay that tom oberheim has is really cool. It's a tough market for llthese companies though as they are all really small despite their legendary names. It would likely only take one massive product fail to really mess up their business. That's why oberheim is smart to do build to order. Even though DSI and Moog can get their stuff in guitar centers/sam ash across the country,it still doesn't mean ppl will be likely to buy them there.

edit: about the moogs, i know they have a voyager rack but those things are still very expensive per voice.

every analogue solutions product i've owned has been a disappointment

In what way? They sound pretty bloody good from what I've heard.

the build quality can be a little cheap and the lack the refinement of some classic vintage and higher market analouges but they are a bargain 2nd hand for the sound they have

I have a kinda love-hate reletionship with my Vostok
