problem with DXM is it is ridiculously horrible for you to take in doses like that. It is toxic and damages the liver. It's also incredibly bad for the brain and kills brain cells like hitler killed jews (no offense jews)

edit: Erowid seems to indicate that there is no hard evidence about the damages of DXM but I've read multiple times that it is horrible for you, alot on The Shroomery message board and those guys know their shit.

moderation man. a couple times a year, if that, isn't shit. Your yearly alcohol consumption does much worse I am sure. Not to mention oleney's lesions in humans hasn't been proven last time I checked.

The jury is still out, in my opinion. Before the worries about liver, there was the original dire DXM warning: that it gives you Olney's leisons. Holes in your brain. This rumor was spread by the guy (William White) that wrote the DXM FAQ. He later admitted this was bullshit, and he was just trying to scare people away from abusing DXM:

Now, I feel DXM users fall into three categories:

1) People that try it once or twice than never again

2) People that take it every now and then

3) The bingers

I've hung out on the Dextroverse forums and IRC a bit... and man, let me tell you, some of those guys are real fucking basket cases. People that take 800mg a day for weeks at a time, as part of a larger polydrug abuse problem (e.g. DXM is cheap and available, but they also do LSD, shrooms, coke, heroin, oxycontin, vodka, whatever the fuck they can get their hands on). A lot of these people eventually wind up in the hosptial. While DXM probably accelerates that, I hesitate to give it the blame.

Obviously, DXM is not GOOD for your liver... but I don't think it's that bad, either. Just like booze -- occasional drinking is harmless, constant chugging will kill your liver. So I wager it is for DXM... whether or not it's the liver that DXM actually endangers.

There's a lot of other factors -- DXM via gelcaps always gives me terrible shits. That's not the DXM, though, it's the gelcaps! The cough syrup is sugary enough to give a horse type 2 diabetes...

Anyways, end sum of this ramble: DXM is not going to kill you unless you're already heading down that road. Respect your body, listen to what it tells you, and I doubt you'll have problems.

I have been a #3 at one point (I think, wtf is a binger?) But I did it 3-4 times a week from 99-'01 probably.

binger, as in binge, binge drinking etc.

i'd say 3-4 times a week for an extended period is definitely pushing it. i recall you had some problems with other drugs too...

after the dxm thing yes. i got bad into H in 2003. Been off that for a while though. regarding bingers. I read it as BING-ers. I must have some residual DXM damage....

either that or how ignorant you are, meaning that most of the people i know who have done it had no fucking clue what it was and were the type who would ingest anything including toxic inhalants

I know when i wanted to do it it was definitely part of a psychedelic completist machismo. I basically wanted to do every single psychedelic drug out there, by the time i had actually done harm to myself with so many psychedelics i had just stopped short of PCP, Ibogaine and Datura. I would however try PCP in a flash if it was offered to me, not like take a hit off someone's sherm but i would probably want to take it home lay down somewhere comfortable and get just like that guy in NARC arcade game who picks up the dumpsters
