Guest blicero
Years ago, Radiohead had a contest where they put out a bunch of studio outtakes and samples and challenged their music-making fans to create songs out of them... and every week, for a few weeks, they picked their favorites. I submitted one, and it was selected. today i am listening to a recent Thom Yorke solo e.p. and i hear this song that contains some "drum" programming which sounds similar to my submission. did thom yorke bite my song? what do you think? Guest analogue wings
i think you might have the moral victory here however, since it's not a sample, and you're not protected against "covers" of drumbeats, you'd have a bit of a challenge getting legal with it Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/51783-did-thom-yorke-borrow-my-beat/#findComment-1194190 Share on other sites

Guest blicero
OK, good to know I'm not just hearing things. First off, I'm not trying to build a legal case, or anything like that. I'm flattered, if anything. The only think I would ever want would be some tiny bit of recognition (even if it wasn't made public). All sounds used in my song were from the Radiohead contest samples, which can be found here: http://www.citizeninsane.eu/loophole.html I can't remember exactly which samples I used, but I believe I used at least these 3: Your browser does not support the HTML5 audio tag http://www.citizeninsane.eu/loophole/R93.mp3 Your browser does not support the HTML5 audio tag http://www.citizeninsane.eu/loophole/R101.mp3 Your browser does not support the HTML5 audio tag http://www.citizeninsane.eu/loophole/R118.mp3 BTW, thanks for the nice feedback on the track. ascdi
Cool tune (yours)! I think it's a coincidence though. I guess Mileu didn't want credit for it, but it's a similar scenario. Artist has people remix them, remix gives original artist inspiration for his own song, artist makes own song of inspiration. In this case Yorke did it without asking Blicero's permission. awepittance
i thought that's what i basically said above, but i guess it could be read as that bmsr did a track based on the free festival song, i just meant that inspiration was provided for elements on a bmsr final track. which you reiterate here. brian e still thinks in part they stole a song off of him, that's why i even mentioned this in the first place. we only heard one side of the story in that thread.
