TechDiff
I think Audjoo Helix is a super duper synth VSTi I really like it anyways, really light on the CPU as well Have a looky here: http://www.audjoo.com/Helix/HelixAbout.html I think it goes for $140 is that too much? I'd stick with freeware and save up for reaktor or something. All the one's I listed, and most in this thread, are certainly capable of making similar sounds, but are all quite unique in their own ways. Imposcar especially. In terms of sound and layout. Even though it's not hardware, a different layout can affect what sound you are making also. Though I agree there are more similarities between software synths than hardware, they are by no means all the same. A lot of freeware stuff can be, but that's usually due to the program it's made in (synth edit, etc) but then again I've tried out stuff that I couldn't believe was made in synth edit (which is what made me purchase synth edit). I guess we are just on opposite ends of the spectrum though, b/c if I were making a sound the last thing I would use is reaktor. Not b/c it's modular as I love modular (vaz, tassman, zebra, etc). There's many factors in this, and I own it since I bought komplete, but I have just never liked the interface or really the algorithms in reaktor. And yes I understand that it is vastly flexible. Just a personal qualm. It's all good though, to each their own :) Edited January 8, 2010 by Brandi_B Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/52211-best-vsti-for-~100/page/2/#findComment-1207047 Share on other sites

And I also want to support the companies that make the awesome instruments I use. There is some freeware stuff I use, as there are some very talented people out there that are generous enough to put their work out for free. However since they are easy to make the market is flooded with huge amounts of poor quality freeware, whether it's the sound, or cpu use. They can also crash your daw b/c they didn't have large numbers of beta testers and programmers to debug it.So it's a bit harder to know exactly what you're gonna get from freeware, as opposed when buying from a company, you know it's well tested, will likely have customer support, and free updates, not to mention very skilled and experienced programmers making their best effort to make a great instrument. Another thing is automation too. A LOT of freeware stuff does not support automation. Brandi_B
ohm force is quality. I d/l'd that when it was announced but have yet to mess with it. I use ohmicide, and ohm boyz delay in pretty much every track.
