plus no one seems to be going any further than just putting bland text on there. I spent a good 2 hours tweaking the shadows and stuff on mine to make it look nice, font aside.

I'll tell you why no-one seems to do it - it's mainly cos 99.9% of the time it looks flipping rubbish. If you look at the artwork of the main artists discussed on here (ae/boc/afx/clark/snares etc.) - none of them feature any 'funky' special text effects, they're just plain text on an image. It's really not needed, and really is best to be avoided.

lol (i'm sorry... i'm just joking around... but something like that takes about 2 minutes. but i've been doing this sort of work for 13 years )

yeah, i was just hoping someone could do it *right* i suppose. I paid someone to do this for me and they failed miserably and we tried bland fonts and super edited fonts with shadows etc. But they just didn't get it at all, which is why i made one, which i would have preferred not to do (especially now).

when all else fails... use helvetica neue!

i do like yours tho mcbpete, i just prefer the text in the lower bottom corner.

i'm hiring a graphic artist to deal with all this stuff in any projects I take on in the future. I can't handle teh stress of stuff I can't do anything about! (fixing the "font" myself and making it something that appeases people that is)

I considered this...but decided against it.

remember the specific artwork thread? remember the quality of submissions? the eclecticism of typography people were doing?

at least 3 people on the compilation are graphic designers by profession, more if you include everyone who made something in the artwork thread. it's baffling why you would be talking about hiring a graphic designer when you havn't contacted anyone involved with this compilation, let alone any of he hundreds of members on this board. isn't it a bit embarrassing getting people to upload last minute tweaks in this thread?

I don't think it's embarrassing. Frustrating yes, but art is a flimsy topic anyway. Too many varying opinions. Always a challenge. :)

And the reason i didn't contact anyone before (i have now), is because it worked for me.

Stoppit's design is definitely a go-er for me, either of the two (though possibly the top one brightness wise). Simplistic, clean, nice

i know it's got nothing to do with me, but they both look like those godawful "orchestral tribute to.." albums.

well there's 2 discs. So ideally one is for disc 1, the darker for disc 2.

I'm delaying the release a week to update the artwork (i'm using stoppit's). Luckily I'm using a per order basis cd manufacturer, so I am able to do this without having to chuck a whole bunch of stuff. update will come. It will be ready before a week from now, but I want to be safe so I don't have to delay again.
