my favourite local stocks an amazingly diverse selection of beers from around the world and they're always changing them... from small breweries from the uk, ireland, europe, asia, india, austrailia, south america, jamaica, etc, etc, etc but i don't recall them ever getting any US micro-brewery stock.

the demand is definately here for tastier, more characterful beer. i suppose public opinion on US beer may well be sullied by the big corps tasteless, watery piss. might be time to change that perception.

yeah i doubt that perception would ever change. it hasn't changed with wines and we definitely hold our own during blind taste tests. american beer is just synonymous with pisswater.

my favorite beer that i tried this weekend was a boulevard "harvest dance wheat wine" ... truly incredible tasting beer. potent as fuck. maybe i'll see about mailing you a bottle once it becomes available. i dont know the logistics of shipping big bottles overseas though.

i don't know that you can mail booze

i paid about 11 USD a pop for these 750mls

your averge microbrew six pack (12 oz bottles) is around 8 bucks i think. just off the top of my head. i dont buy a lot of beer.

that would be amazing. have you tried the german and ausrtian wheat beers? is that what the wheat wine is like?

btw californian (and australian) wine is pretty well respected here now i'd say. most good restaurants will have a selection but people still think old world is better.

That Double Wide IPA is quite the treat... I recommend you check out the rest of the Smokestack Series from Boulevard. I have had their Quad Srong Ale aging in my closet for about 7 months now.

People ship wine all the time. Perhaps though beer would be a touch risky.

As long as they are considered "collectors items" you can mail them/sell on ebay without any issues. I have a few beers in my closet that have been aging for about 5 years now and are worth a pretty penny.

it is my opinion that beer should not have modern looking labels.

Goddamn, well you'd have a shit fit over here. Today I saw (not for the 1st time, but was reminded) of those Coors cans of that have mountains on it that change blue when it gets "cold enough".

A very good deal on a saison type beer is the Ommegang Hennepin. It's between 6 and 8 bucks and it's excellent.

The only problem is you pretty much have to drink it that day, and also watch out for stores that leave them on the shelf too long.

There's a bunch of other ommegangs that are not so good -- Hennepin is the only one I really like.

Green Flash makes a really good belgian style, and it has a cap instead of a cork which I prefer.

I think the Allagash Trippel is probably my favorite of the ones that come in wine bottles.

in aus you can get basically every beer in 750ml form (longnecks, longies etc)

is this as common in the rest of the world?

in america they sell six packs of miller high life with empty 750ml bottles so you can fill up if you want to impress your friends

my favourites in the 22-24 variety

LOL, that's just dumb.

it was a joke there buddy

mmmm, boulevard is some good stuff. Never really drink it from the bottle but I've had it on tap a few times. Think i had their single wide IPA.
