The Office

i find the US office tolerable until this dude's face appears on screen giving those sarcastic smug looks to the camera . he makes me want to punch a wall. there is no one on the UK version that is that bad at comedy.

yeah jim is never really funny, he's just an intensely normal guy who isn't that good at anything.

adds to the realism of the show imo

also funny was the episode where they absorb the other branch and there is that woman breast pumping in the middle of the office with creed just staring and grinning.

It's always been the other way round if anything, simply because we have grown up with US shows and films, whereas in the US (not anymore though - now that we live in the future) there were just the occasional points of interest like Monty Python but otherwise you wouldn't have had any idea what the people in the UK where watching.

most of the time its better off that way as well.

i try to play british comedy for my friends and family sometimes and most of the times they just don't get it . I think it first has to do with literally not being able to understand what people are saying through a fast paced british accent.

I played In the Loop for a friend who was staying here on christmas, and i had to rewind the movie like every 5 minutes just so he could hear/understand what the characters are saying. For most americans i think you have to train your ear to be able to decipher scottish/british accents rapidfire comedy.

in the loop is fucking hilarious though, no training needed.

yeah, i don't mean to generalize, i'm just going by my own experience. When i was 16 or so when trainspotting came out i remember feeling like a really fucking dumb American because a great deal of the dialogue was unintelligible to me.

I think the reason Mr. Bean was so successful here is not just because it was almost pure slapstick but because there was almost no talking.

Season 1 was decent ..

Season 2 and 3 were great ..

Season 4-present -- pile of repetitive shit .. Steve carrel's character is getting old .. Jim is a fucking douche and should stick with being a spy .. and the rest of the gang are a bunch of conformist idiots ..
