I agree. I'm a huge BoC fan but I'm not a fan boy. If I hear good tunes that sound like BoC then that's a good thing to me because BoC do so little & I want more of that sound. I think the Deadmau5 track is really nice. The sounds are fantastic & I can't get the melody out of my head, which is annoying in a classsic BoC melody kind of way. If it was actually a BoC track all the fan boys would be saying it was really good as well. Come on guys. You know this to be true

If you actually bothered listening to both of his albums/compliations you'll realise what i mean.

I dont mind talking about this stuff as we all have differnt opinions but it pisses me off when people fail to give good artists the respect they deserve.

Funny that Deadmau5 hasn't exactly got the best sense of humour when the parody's set on him. If I remember correctly he went apeshit over the Deadrat6 parody of him and barred the guy from his own gig because he refused to play if he had to do a set after him.

Sticking to the topic though the track's not too bad, just reminds me too much of my own shitty BoC ripoffs.

was a pretty nice track, but damned repetitive. i tend to dislike most of deadmau5's original work, but this was pretty enjoyable. i didn't like that he copied a lot of their style rather than trying to put his own element in it... he even had the muttering voices and all. don't really see what you're getting so worked up about smettingham... maybe they're being pretentious or maybe they really don't like the track. it is possible, you know.

yeah, i enjoyed it as well. shame that he had to use it as an attack on BoC. i enjoyed "for a lack of a better name", as did the peeps who were cruising in my ride when i was in canada. deadmau5 isn't really thinking man's music though, is it.

i don't think it's an attack on boc. it seems more like he thought of a funny pun and decided to make a track to go with it.

This sounds like a pretty standard Boards of Canada fake to me. Nice little synth ditty with a crunchy beat. Boards of Canada is more than just a sum of parts.

Boards of Canada certainly isn't "thinking man's music" either.
