a couple years back i used to buy from one of the weed club's delivery services in vancouver and i was definitely paying around 40-60 bucks a eighth, 10-20 bucks a gram.

Here in Lawrence, a college town (KU!), and probably the best place in the state to get good herb, it's been steady $50-60/eighth for the good stuff, depending if you're buying from friend or not, and on weight you're purchasing. Obviously the more you get, the better the price

some places you can get away with practical extortion, because its like supply and demand, but the supply exists, but the communication lines are severed/unavailable.

I haven't met a "major" dealer that supports the legalization of anything. When you realize that some of the "major" dealers have ties, and very close knits with political figures then you kind of come to terms with the fact complete legalization will never happen. Ever. I wouldn't go as far as to say NEVER happen, but you are 1000000% right on every point you made.

One reason I don't smoke weed anymore is because there is a very good chance the money I spend on grass helps to fund an actual drug war. It's not worth getting high if you think that you might indirectly have a part in actual violence.

That's cause the major dealers will lose out big time. Taxes you see. Of course they could always hire some big pharma lawyers... Here in BC, grow ops would gain like mad. Hell's Angels on the other hand would have to walk away from it, as any involvement in legal affairs would lead to more scrutiny in their other drug trade (notably crystal meth and speed).

A bigger reason why it won't happen any time soon is mentioned in the article, and that's the private prison industry in America. They make big money off all the black folks your justice system likes to incarcerate...

It's an inevitable change, but I'm glad to see it starting to gain some serious momentum within my lifetime.

I don't do any hard drugs anymore. The only substances I intake at the moment are dexedrine (irrelevant though, its for ADHD), THC, Alcohol, and Tobacco. Used to take a wide variety of psychotropics though.

It's been over a year since I've tripped or anything, and I still feel very opposed to the way the governments handle drug use/abuse. The bottom line is that it's a fucking health problem, not a crime problem. The only crime involved with any drugs is entirely a result of the illegality. You wouldn't jail a man for eating mcdonald's every day because it's horrible for his health would you? Nobody would because he needs to see a therapist, not a jail cell.

Same fucking thing with drugs, if some guy is totally addicted to heroin or something (which I've never touched jfyi), he doesn't deserve to be thrown in a cell, he deserves a shrink. If this were the action taken towards reducing drug abuse, it would be far more successful instead of how jail just kicks drug users deeper into the potential downward spiral into addiction and eventually overdose.

Those of you who hate anti-prohibitionists, if you aren't going to help us at least get out of the way and stop making it harder for this cause by spreading the mindset that reformists are some crack-headed lunatics.

i thought hard drugs were things that you can become physically addicted to.

Ok yeah I used it out of context because I figured it would make sense to more watmmers but if you wanna get specific LSD, Mush, Weed are all not hard drugs, most others are, so basically anything that does your body harm.

Tobacco and alcohol are much more harmful to your body than LSD/Psilocybin/THC.
