Well, first of all if I hired this guy to come and play and then he shows up, gets on stage and presses play and then stands around doing nothing for an hour I'd be disappointed. He was supposed to play live. I mean, the organizer might as well just have put on one of his CDs and saved himself a whole bunch of cash because I can assure you his act wasn't cheap. I guess I'm just sick and tired of 'live electronic music' being a guy standing behind a laptop looking dumbfounded at his laptop.

True - but come on... it takes so little to make it that more interesting. Add a few effects here and there, throw in a sample and so on. Just because you're a laptop-musician doesn't mean that your show has to be boring. Take Bogdan Raczynski for instance. He doesn't do anything live at all but he goes fucking crazy on stage and watching him spaz out is like 50% of the show.
