you only need keys if you want to be Jean Michel Jarre

get the one with as many keys, knobs faders and pads as you can afford.

Try playing with it in a music store to get a feel for the kind of keys you want, some kontroller keyboards have keys that are small and plasticy, some are fat and weighted. Don't trust anyone in a forum or in a store, make up your own mind.
