right because we need more Autechre clones too

I didn't necessarily mean make more acid tunes, I was referring to the spirit of the thing...it was wicked and lots of people contributed and there was the whole aunt acid thing etc etc

hell i'd love to see more people 'cloning' AE's Confield (and after) playful experimentation and innovation, focusing on sound design and trying new things in the contest of electronic dance music. it would make electronic music as a whole a shit load more interesting.

i'll proudly display my AE clone carrying card :ok: , (as long as it's not defined by most people's idea of AE clone which is glitchy beats + padded melodies  )

I was just taking the piss. I like Acid and AE, but I find what you say about the "glitchy beats + padded melodies" thing to be true. It just doesn't interest me as much as it used to. More "Confield" type experimentation would be good. That being said, I find acid to be endearing, and it will always have a place in my heart. I know you are quite outspoken about your boredom of roland gear. I just happen to find it very expressive. Not too many synths can "cry" like a 303... Damn I sound like an acid version of Thehaugntingsoul now...

 i was just a little taken aback by the thread creator complaining about the stagnent nature of YLC but saying we need more of you know what

lol now now no need to make fun of me

I like my GassyOOrbz LP thank ya very much!

THat being said, 2010 is going to be mine and the Branch Acidian's year. CMA, EOD, & Impakt are probably going to want to give up on music before June even gets here.

Guess i'm guilty of some of this, only here a few days and posted up a track i just finished. Meaning to look and see if the guy who commented on my stuff has any stuff i can listen on to repay, but as of yet haven't... ya, bad of me i know... plus i only just stumbled onto all this music again after not listening to it for years so there's lots to hear... i'll get round to it!

But whatever for excuses... apologies if my stuff falls under the newb category ... my mum likes it though! ;)

i tend to post something up on there and then horribly regret it later.

i've come out of exile to say that i agree completely.

i posted that lp i made in there. no fucking replies. not even one. hence why i posted it again in the main music forum.

fuck ekt. now it's just a circlejerk, you get ignored if you're not in the inner circle.

no, this isn't a personal attack on anyone, by the way. it's just far shittier than it used to be when i joined back in 2004. i posted an ep i made when i was a noob to the forum, back in december 2004, virtually no posts, and the thread got to 3 pages of praise and criticism, not just the same 3 people saying "oh yes!" or "i'm glad we made this ep together!" like it appears now. that's one of the reasons why i've stayed here for over 5 years.

also, on the acid thing, i think people seem to make acid more now because it appears easier than the previous fad pre-analord which was drukqs-style drill n bass, but it's actually really fucking difficult to make good acid that makes people want to shake their rumpas. i've tried making acid and i can't get the right groove. mosca got it right with "acid hooligan", chris moss somehow manages to get it right every time, and lindrum larry cocopipe's acid compilation was top fucking drawer. chris moss and eod are consistently solid, but i don't class either of them as ekt, they're the next step up in my opinion.

i mean, if i look through my ekt folder, there's that truely brilliant album by encey, there's dead eros's stuff ("the life in the world of existence is done" is in my top 20 albums of all time, yet alone ekt), there's all of beak's output, there's mosca, there's brian ellis, chris moss, awkward, asymmetrical head, all of earstroke's output, so much amazing stuff, and it's a shame that these people don't post as much in ekt anymore, regarding their musical output and criticism on other people's tracks. i think, for the most part, there's a good reason why they don't.

p.s. cocopipe, post more music, all your stuff is gold. monkey tennis, fucking yes mate.
