The government ran a bunch of ''tests'' on small ISP's - (against overwhelming advice from the IT industry that the filter wouldn't work)

When the results came out everyone expected the government to do a backflip and say 'well, thats why we did a test, to see if it was possible' - as again, basically any non-government body advised the filter would a) fuck up the internet and b) impose on freedom of speech etc

The government announced the tests came back a glowing 100% 'it works' - with the actual filter due to baby slap us this year...

There have been a few occasions where the so called 'black list' was leaked, and it contained all sorts of innocent material - even a dentists website, and 'seek help' sites for anorexia sufferers were included.

All i can say is Fuck the government - from what i can tell, Prime Minister Rudd is doing everything he can to lick Chinas ass...

I wonder what retroactive implications this may have as far as the porn people already have. Any sort of new law which makes an otherwise law abiding segment of the population a criminal by default is a great cause for concern. Typically we, possibly, won't get full transperancy until after the law/classification has already passed.

So if that is accurate then from what I understand, there are going to be a significant chunk of newly made criminals due to this.
