If someone threw 500 USD in your face,

500.00 USD = 314.499 GBP

er, for that kind of money i'd try and get maybe a roland hs-60, or possibly an mc-202 (although they usually go for a bit more than £315). i dunno, some kind of older analogue thing anyway - i'd have to look on ebay and stuff.

TR-606s aren't really that good, lol. I mean sure, if you've already got a 909 or a 707 it might be nice for a 606+303 combo though. Just my opinion anyway.

I'd like a Monome.

The 606 has some nice analog drum sounds in a tight little package and a sequencer that is handier than that of other tr's (switchable between pattern write and play while running). I would say that the silver box's shitty construction is not ideal for drum programming though. I mean you've gotta be able to hammer those step buttons, and these suckers are delicate. And yeah, it'll just be a companion to my 303/707/808(miami) arrangement.

The monome is awesome though!

I think I'm suffering from gear fatigue. Because I've still got at least $500 of my Xmas bonus still hanging around my bank account (and more besides. I have a stupidly well paid day job) but I can't really bring myself to buy anything with it. I was looking at some 303s on eBay and just thinking "you know, I don't really need this."

I'm slightly worried I'm suffering from some kind of anhedonia. Or maybe I've been poor for so long and it was such a struggle for so long to get any kind of gear that now I could afford decent gear I still have the fear I'll have to sell it again.

I suppose what I would do/should do is get a legal copy/upgrade of my software. That seems only moral.

Seeing as I don't think there's anywhere I can hire a long-haired ginger Cornish call-boy

I'd finally buy Max/MSP, because it looks prettier than Pure Data.

small hydro setup

finally someone's on the right track...

in all honesty i'd build a beefy desktop with good audio interfaces and an intel i7. at this point i pretty much see hardware as a waste of money for composition. any analogue waveform can be modeled in a meaningful and useful way, it's just a matter of abstraction. i just need to get rid of my latency!

Looks like a tight piece. Wonder how quality it is sonically. Got any links to tracks/demonstrations you fancy?
