this is the most annoying thread i have had the misfortune of browsing in the past 9 - 12 months

pot/kettle etc

hey man way to utilize that trend from 08-09, creative ways of saying "pot calling the kettle black" but not actually saying it. super cool, do you ahve any good tracks that you actually made yourself?

yes because I was well aware of said trend....

regarding the music comment, I'm not too sure what you mean, but I at least know that you have no idea what you're talking about, which seems to be a trend of it's own lately.

yes and you seem to be adding to that trend, with all due respect sir i find it hard to believe you are unaware of most trends, given the state of your pristine, perfect WATMM personality, with its 60s style avatar and proper witty usage of emoticons. i know it is hard to accept the fact that someone else may have been annoyed by something you sincerely bought into and considered a serious discussion, but please

Explain me Fletcher-Munson curves and how I can use them to drown out my annoying neighbours when they're having loud sex upstairs when I'm trying to work on my choons. Thanks.

Fletcher-Munson curves/eqaul loudness contours indicate the relationship between actual dBSPL (Sound Pressure Level) and perceived loudness by humans. As far as allowing you to drown out your neighbors, turn up your music, put on some cans, or grab some ear plugs, there's not really anything the curves can do for you. You might want to try this though: http://xkcd.com/368/

does knowing music theory make any appreciable difference when writing 300bpm gabber?

Possibly.

Why does a major chord sound bright and a minor chord sound dark? We don't really know.

wrong. the harmonics in a C note are multiples of the frequencies of the root, third and fifth intervals of a major C chord. the minor third brings a very subtle dissonance to those harmonics

That's why they sound different and why minor has a different quality, but the assigning of the adjective "dark" to a minor chord is a whole other matter dealing strictly with our perception/interpretation/emotional association of the sound.

Sorry but you're being a cunt, there have been a lot of classically trained musical theorists on here over the years and I don't see anything novel about you. Your creative and spacy progressions don't tell me anything except that you can read roman numerals. Come back when you're a financially succesful musician, we need more of those in here.

I don't mind this thread at all. It initially struck me as slightly boastful, but if you were to ignore that possibility, all that's left is a chance for some people to learn a bit from someone who is willing to answer their questions. That's all. All of this criticism is just a waste of time. This isn't a debate - unless you question the answers Wahrk has given. It's simply a forum for one person to explain something to another.

I am serious youngling. I am intrigued and am willing to spend however long it takes to learn this bit. I would love to here your insight/advice. I'm probably not going to be using a tb though. It'd probably be some cheap but quality software with just basic env/mod/lfo etc. I look forward. I will provide examples in the coming days. Night.

I apologize for the appearance. The title/initial post was meant to be jokingly boastful. I do just really love talking about music though (as we obviously all do), and music theory especially.
