Alphabet Backwards are a new band emerging from Oxford, ive seen them play in a couple of pubs and they are really great live. Kinda like Supergrass in a way but very happy vibes.

*edit*

Stornaway are another Oxfordshire band that are pretty good, getting some radio support now too. Kinda folky, mellow

Nothing electronic but concerning guitar bands I would say Celtic Frost and Warrior Soul. Even my metal-head mates don't really know anything about them.

Also early Black Sabbath. Countless metal-heads I know don't know anything but Paranoid which in my eyes is heresy.

I just started getting into Celtic Frost a few months back. To Mega Therion is incredible.

do you like

Strange but true!

And yes To Mega Therion is brilliant. Most of their records are apart from Cold Lake.

Durutti Column, anyone? My personal favourite group.

I dunno how many of you know them but I am rather quite a big fan of Stars of the Lid. Almost all of their shit is really good, but especially check out The Tired Sounds Of and The Ballasted Orchestra. Great albums, both.

easily 'the paper chase'. pretty much nobody i know has ever heard of these guys, but it's some of the most out-there, insanely genius music i've ever heard.

i'll admit it takes a little getting used to - at first, john congleton (the singer) seems to have no singing ability whatever, but for me, there's a genius to his lyrical and songwriting that is unmatched.

he claims a lot of roger waters influence, which is a bit evident, but the music is epic, with string arrangements, fantastically uncharacteristic production for this genre, tapeloop style stuff... just fantastic.

there seems to be less of their stuff on youtube lately, but i can't recommend them enough.

I used to have God Bless Your Black Heart but I never got into it, so I got rid of it. Perhaps another album would be more to my liking, I don't know. The song you posted is not bad but wouldn't particularly motivate me to check them out, either. If I did want to, what album would you suggest?

i'm sure some people here are familiar with 2 Many DJs by the belgian Dewaele brothers, but other they are mainly in an alternative rockband called Soulwax, and in my opinion they have some good songs

Are you taking the piss? Theyre fucking massive.

British punk rock is sadly overlooked, even in Britain.
