Who made the Oversteps fakes

Recommended Posts

I actually hadn't heard the altered carbon one. So that means there are at least 3 fakes.. two of which are less mysterious now :emotawesomepm9:

i downloaded what supposedly was Autechre´s "Oversteps" via slsk a few weeks ago, where track known(1) strats off with a sampled mc voice.

anyways, i preordered from bleep the official release, and upon getting the digital files i realized it was different from the slsk version i got (which is quite good i must say).

does anyone know who made it? the track-listing and timing for each of the "fakes" is the following:

r ess 3:23

ilanders 4:22

known(1) 3:24

ptph8 4:41

qplay 4:40

see on see 3:14

Treale 4:13

os veix3 3:03

O=0 6:25

d-sho qub 5:02

st epreo 5:05

redfall 3:32

krYlon 6:25

Yuop 9:58

He wouldn't have been saying anything about IDM or dicks, by any chance?

Great! Will download this tonight. I never got to hear this one so I'm looking forward to it.

Thanks

So I know I'm late on this but great job guys.

I agree that the springymajig track is amazing. Also love this "known(1)" by gate (who is gate?)

I'd just like to point out that i spent about 10 minutes on each of my two tracks and the 2nd one was originally a quaristice fake from before quaristice came out and that I never wanted to be credited as having made them /farted them out

Modey your O=0 sounds so huge on my studio monitors. :-) Love it.

Every track is great.

Well... if that didn't just make my day :)

Thank you so much for the lengthy and flattering post xxx. I was a little disappointed with the lack of feedback the album got (but then again, I did nothing to spread the word or promote it so it's my own fault), and considering I get loads of feedback on my #1 passion (and my actual job), my animations, I kinda felt reluctant to get started on another album.

But your post alone might very well be all the motivation I need.

That said, it looks like it'll be a while before I release something again. I work 6 days a week (although I might not be employed for much longer...) and I like to take it easy in my spare time... I've had my fair share of non-stop work and I'm kinda sick of it now, squeezing every last ounce of creativity and energy outta me every minute of the day. I might feel the urge to do that again one day, but for now I want to live like a "normal" person and not an artist.

I need to do some growning up too. Yeah, learning to drive is part of that. In a nutshell: music is fairly low in my list of priorities.

I have a lot of ideas for a second album. I want to do something much more varied. And I did enjoy doing those fakes (especially the r ess one of course) so I have been considering doing more stuff like that. I like minimalism, music that morphs very gradually. But I also wanna experiment with acoustic sounds (I've been collecting novelty ethnic instruments from the local fair trade store).

I've been thinking of rushing out an album just to see what I come up with. Yellower Days was me being really meticulous, I worked on it over the course of 5 years. I wonder if I could do something even half decent in a couple of months...
