Re: scenesters - it's more associated with a specific scene, like metal, emo, punk, goth, indie, rave, etc. People that dress like a certain genre of music are scenesters.

Hipster is a more general term, closer to art fag let's say. It's not associated with a specific genre of music, though they usually have discriminating taste in music, just like art, fashion, etc. They are interested in the subculture in general, let's say.

those pictures of peoples homes are depressing. i wonder sometimes how anybody honestly can feel like it's ok to live like that anymore?

a beautiful space is fine as long as it does not oppress or effect any other living thing

in a harmful way. i'm not talking earthworms,bugs and grass under the foundation here

or even trees and plants destroyed for the use of the land (but i have been known

to question these types of effects as well). i am talking more about the

blatantly destructive things like the mines to get the metal, i am talking the quarries

to get the stone and the petroleum to make the plastics for all this junk.

it is simply a problem when the beauty and the experience overshadow the reality of the way things

should be done. when we make decisions because something is so beautiful that outweigh

whether the whole package really checks out in how it was made, where it was

made, what it was made with and how long it will take to decompose or go back to being

nothing again after these folks are done living out their little decadent earthly dream.

if a hipster tries to be ironic according to current fashion trends, then they change pretty much every decade right? i remember kramer form seinfeld was always referred to as a hipster but he wouldnt fit in with the typical animal collective fan, so if you really hate "hipsters" or "art fags" just give it some time, you'll hate something else soon enough.
