listening to ae's discography in order

Recommended Posts

Guest tht tne

i started last night and was gonna try to pull a marathon since i was banned from the .ws broadcast but i got tired and lonesome

today i picked it back up, will probably finish on friday but i didn't include the hafler trio collabs because you're not the boss of me

i'm on teartear from amber right now... i have done this before when i worked long shifts at night but it's time for a refresher course

only interesting thing i have learned so far is that i am starting to realize why many prefer later-era ae... inc. used to be my favorite

i still love it but its appeal is waning as i have been focusing on confield and afterwards recently... those albums are the mad notes

i'm doing this too, but just with the albums and i'm taking way longer, giving each album a few listens. (well, except for inc and amb)

i once listened to aphex's entire discog on a road trip. albums, eps, remixes, compilation tracks, all that shit. was nuts. kinda boring.

edit: oh, and in chronological order too. hang on, let me post the discog i put together

Why are you including EP7.1 and EP7.2 if they're just the same thing as the CD version, but vinyl? And wouldn't you have to do the separate vinyl releases with Envane and Cichlisuite, too?

i listed those but i don't have them in my playlist, just ep7 total... i'm not sure what you're saying about envane and cichlisuite but i only have 1 version each of those

Envane and cichlisuite were released, vinyly, on two separate discs (two separate releases) just like ep7

oh well to rephrase my initial response those iterations are only listed in my discography for completeness' sake

I might try this someday but usually I just jump whimsically between albums / eps / live stuff / gescoms depending on what mood I'm in

i don't have a lot of live ae... what i would really like is the other marathon broadcasts; i never even listened to them before

I've always wanted to try this but according to my iTunes it would take roughly 21 hours to complete. I found listening to the entire 12 hour webcast was an unrealistically long commitment because I tend to need to get up and do something every now in then to avoid getting anxious.

That being said, I'd love to do it. I'd probably need to do it WITH someone though, not by myself.

Did this last summer over a the course of a week or so. With all of the albums, EPs, rare tracks, remixes, Gescom, and other side projects (didn't even touch live stuff) I think it was around 35 hours or something ridiculous.

You weren't banned from the webcast though, just the chatbox thing below it - as I think the bulk of us were because of the silly bulk ip blocking that uStream did ....

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

Cool, tht -- I did this in a half-ass manner the other day, in an effort to better understand what's going on in Oversteps and, I hope, like it more.

Actually, I did this before Quaristice came out, while I was waiting for the shinybox. But I skipped the basscad/collabo stuff, and Cavity Job, and I hadn't heard radio mix or splitrmx12.

I spread it out over a week or two. I'm not sure if I'd be up for doing it again, but the Autecannon really lends itself to listening this way once or twice.

Just performed a similar marathon myself - I'm taking a friend to see ae in Birmingham who has never heard anything by them, so I put together a training pack for him, 2 releases from each LP, various singles, over 4 CDs.

It highlighted again that 3 versions of Quaristice is overkill

i don't think it was anything to do with an ip block, due to the fact that the chatbox was obviously using the IRC protocol. i was able to get into the room using xchat and manually entering the IRC server details. wasn't banned at all from accessing it with a real client. if there was any ip block, it certainly wasn't at the IRC protocol level anyway.

i have been but i would be hard pressed to relate them right now

i might give it some thought and return to this thread after sleep

okay - for me it's official, Untilted is their best Album.

I have the strange feeling that I've forgotten all of this before.

spltrmx12 is fucking awesome. Seriously, check it out. Quite repetitive but it's got a trance-like quality to it.
