also what chaos said about the poker bots/insider hand history stuff is crazy, that grand jury indictment from last year of all the sites laundering their funds through banks illegally makes me even more paranoid about this shit. apparantly pokerstars makes a million dollars every day from rake aswell, jesus christ.

Haven't touched online poker now for nearly two years because of this, I've had my account hacked, and so have 3 people I used to play with. Won't touch any of them with a barge pole, which is tricky at times when I rest my laptop on my lap.

Poker is a battle of wits when you boil it down. I think it's more about reading people than the cards. But there is a lot of chance calculation involved, trying to work out what cards someone might have based on the decisions they make, and the behaviour they are displaying.

is there a decent place to play poker for non-moneys in the US?

like, fake monies? or points? i dunno.

pokerstars uses 'play money' of which i am currently bankrolled 117K, gotta love fake moneys, almost as worthless as bitcoin

I do like to bump old threads... Any Europeans on here happen to play on PKR? I've just got back into playing after a three year break and I realised I still got it (in mtts anyway, suck at cash). Listening to a BOC playlist whilst taking down a pot is rather lovely

Yeah I play

haven't played in a month of so as I busted my roll

and depositing is a logistical nightmare

but like music it's something I study pretty hard

I made roughly $5K in 2012

playing 5-10 hrs/week

mostly $36 sng's

I was kinda dumb to bust

my roll was at $1K (which is where I try to keep it)

and I withdrew $500 to buy some music gear I wanted

and then continued to play $36's

telling myself I'd just redeposit if I busted

so once again I learned the lesson that

to play comfortably I need to be over-rolled for whatever I'm playing

or else I'll feel the pressure of busting and thus play poorly

~30 BI's was a very comfortable bankroll

~13 BI's was not

Anyway, when I have a roll again

I plan to treat it like a proper job

play 30ish hours if I can

p.s. If anyone ever wants to talk strategy I'm game

like music it's something I could talk about and learn about forever
